On June 25th 2015 my mother, Kathleen Louise Cook (Snay) passed away suddenly as a result of complications from a surgery to repair a severely broken arm. She was 61 years old.
The last few years of her life Kathy suffered from several chronic and painful illnesses and, the last two years, had significant mobility issues that largely kept her bedridden.
It is painful to talk about this so publicly, but my father and I are in need of help. My mother's medical expenses (medications etc.) exceeded what insurance would completely cover so my parents have been suffering financially for years. Compounding the problems, we were unable to carry any significant life insurance on her due to her medical history. My father's current health is such that he cannot continue to work in his field (we are in the process of getting him a retirement pension and social security), but currently he has no income.
I can support my father's day to day living expenses, but we need to pay for my mother's end of life costs as well as move my father to be with me in Virginia and, after everything, we just don't have the money between us to do it all.
So, in lieu of sending flowers or traveling for a memorial ceremony, I humbly ask for donations to get us through this trying time. Every little bit will help. I can offer you nothing in return except my prayers of thanksgiving for your generosity and the promise that I will pay it foward as I can.
