Dear Urarv Fans,
As some of you might have heard already, our beloved drummer, Trish was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. This has been quite a shock to all of us. We of course stand by her as a band through these trying times, and we want to aid her in this battle as much as we can.

However we can not win this battle alone. Much of this process is covered by the state, but there will be expenses for some medicine and there might be costs regarding surgical reconstruction and other challenges during these hard times. Therefore we would like to ask YOU to help Trish and help Urarv fight cancer.

We have started a fundraiser, where you can donate an amount of your choice to help her cover the expenses of the coming surgical procedures. Right now we're still uncertain what the actual costs will be, but we are aiming to collect 20 000 nok (~2 000 euro). In case this amount will be more than sufficient to cover her treatment, we shall donate the rest to support research on breast cancer.

As of now, Urarv has 4147 followers on Facebook. If each one of you donated 5 nok, we could easily raise the needed amount, but we know this is not how it works. We appreciate any donations made to any organization that funds the research on cancer.

We appreciate any help you can give us!

January 1 2019: Trish is through with the double mastectomy surgery to remove both breasts and lymph nodes due to cancer, and initial reconstruction. She is at home and in pain although cannot lift her arms or things for another few weeks. But this is just the beginning and she still has a long difficult extremely painful road ahead, and still significant chances not make it.

She must still go through even more cancer-related surgical operations (removal of eggs, ovaries, subsequent operations to fix and correct the breast reconstruction), this will be very painful. In addition, later this month she starts chemotherapy probably for at least a half year, and will be poisoned and weakened and immediately lose all hair, and suffer from constant nausea and vomiting and pain.

While many medical costs are covered by the Norwegian government, the medications for pain, nausea, sleeping, anxiety etc are not, so she cannot afford this without help. Also since she obviously cannot work while going through this. The amounts needed are so large to relieve such extreme symptoms, this will cost at least 10,000-20,000+ NOK per month. In addition, there are many other costs such as paying a home cleaner, necessary items such as special expensive special post-surgical bras, as well as items to look kind of normal and cover the dying-cancer-patient look, wigs and accessories, cosmetics to cover the fallen out eyelashes and eyebrows during and after chemotherapy, scar creams, bandages, hormone therapies, taxis, special vegan health food, tattoos and salon treatments to cover the scars and damage, etc.

If anyone cares and wants to help her wellbeing and survival to see her suffer less and get well and survive this cancer and be back to playing on stage again with Urarv they can donate here through the gofundme link, or else to paypal (contact the campaign organizer for that information), or Norwegians to vipps # 93634902

Bad news from Trish:
"This is really terrible news. Probably worst in my life, in addition to all the other tragedies and deaths and injuries and abuse and theft and pain and other health problems.

I am in the unlucky 0.1-0.2% of the population to have a rare genetic mutation which causes cancer (BRC1). So therefore I have 50% chance of subsequent breast cancer and also nearly that high odds of ovarian cancer as well.

So the surgeon strongly recommends to do a double masectomy, to reduce the odds of future cancer spreading and more surgeries and death. This is gonna lead to the worst pain imaginable and not being able to use my arms for 6 weeks.

Anyone who wants to visit me in hospital I will be there several days from December 5. And then at home and anyone who feels like helping with anything at all (even something small like putting dishes out of the dishwasher, carrying groceries from the store) it is greatly appreciated as I will not be able to do such things myself for minimum 6 weeks and literally have no-one to help with this.....

One weird and interesting fact is this gene is often correlated to higher intelligence, so that's why it has evolved as somewhat "beneficial" in that way. So even though these people's lives are shortened with quality worsened going through a lot of pain and suffering, at least they are able to accomplish successful educations and careers in the little healthy time they have while alive..."
