Royals Fans Care!

Donation protected
My family and I are huge Royals fans, like at least 800K of you in the KC area are as well, proven by the parade's turnout yesterday! One Royals fan happens to be a taxi cab driver whose cab was parked right in the middle of a sea of people near Union Station. Without knowing what to expect, I'm sure he never envisioned there being so many people present that his car, though parked far enough away from Union Station (near the rally), would be at risk of getting damaged.

Though my family was trying to get to Union Station, the jam-packed size of the crowd prevented us from getting any closer than right by where this cab was parked. When we arrived, many children were already on the hood, roof, and trunk of the car, trying to gain visibility. With our four children present, ranging from 4 years to 12, we did not hesitate to allow them to get onto the cab for a better view of the parade.

Unfortunately, though no one on the cab, nor the parents (including myself) who allowed their children up on it, anticipated their children would contribute to causing the roof to cave in. The poor cab driver returned to his car later in the day to find the damage. He was rightfully angered and disheartened. He also had no way to hold anyone accountable for this, not knowing who did it. There was no chance he'd likely ever find out who was responsible and therefore have to take on all the repair costs himself.

The cab driver is now faced with a $1K deductible in order to get the needed repairs done. My children only contributed a small part to the damage, but we have no way of contacting the other fans who also made this error in judgment. I wish I had $1K to take full responsibility for this. Unfortunately, I do not.

Someone gave me the great idea that there are probably enough proud Royals fans and Kansas Citians that would love to pitch in to transform this cab driver's negative experience yesterday (which NO ONE should have had - it should have been nothing but a positive and amazing day for everyone) into a memorable one - one that restores his faith in humanity, Kansas Citians, and Royals fans.

Any money raised will be given directly to the cab driver to cover the cost of his deductible. If funds exceed the goal, the extra cash will go to cover any other expenses the cab driver incurs from this. If we happen to raise far beyond the funds needed to cover the cab driver's expense, I will reach out to the Royals front office to ask them in which charity they'd like the remaining funds to be donated. Not one cent will go towards anything other than a good cause.

If you can help with a small donation, even just a few bucks, I have to believe this would mean so very much to the cab driver. Additionally, my children need to know that when we screw up, even entirely unintentionally, we have to face up to it and try to make it right. You all are obviously not responsible for this in any way - instead, from one Royals fan to another, I appeal to your grace and kindness to help me make this right! Your contribution would be tremendously appreciated.
