Yembre

Yembre funds accessibility projects that support people with mobility and physical disabilities in Burkina Faso. Yembre means one and the same in Mooré, a local langauge in Burkina Faso.   According to Handicap International, 85% of people with disabilities have received no education, 56% are unemployed, and 43.7% feel socially excluded.

In collaboration with the CReATE Program in Utah, Yembre's first project will provide an electric wheel chair to a student at the University of Ouagadougou. CReATE has built the custom wheelchair but does not have funding for crating, shipping or extra batteries.

This project's first recipient is Jacques Zongo, a student at the University of Ouagadougou.  Jacques is 25 years old and studies English.  He is extremely excited about his new electric wheelchair.  It will make his daily commute to school and navigating around university much easier.  But, for this to happen, we need your help!

Donations will be used to fund the crating, shipping and extra battery costs of the wheelchair.   The quicker we raise the money the sooner Jacques can have his new chair.  The current fundraising goal is set at $5,000 while I continue to look into the exact amount it will cost and a company that will send it.   Any funds raised above the cost of sending Jacques his wheelchair will go toward other Yembre projects.

Thank you in advance!
