Oh hi there!
Sarah here asking for a bit of time (and money,  obviously!)

Please, please help me to help the glorious human that is Wendy Morgan & her Sophie Dog.

Anyone who knows Wendy KNOWS her love for all living creatures and Sophie is her world, they will also know that Wendy would never ask for help, but I can!

Here is Sophie & Wendy's story.

Sophie is a Rotti Collie cross and was a dog that no one wanted. Fear- aggressive. Unable to tolerate another human soul apart from a very select few who over time she grew to trust. She was rescued  at the kennel who took her in and looked after her over the years of her life after she had been relinquished to them with severe social anxiety.

Into the scene steps Wendy, volunteering as rescue dog walker after the loss of her Boxer Bruno. Somehow during the walking Sophie grew to trust Wendy and Wendy in turn learned about Sophies trust issues and learned how to work with her. Sophie was the last rescue dog left and because of her serious issues no one could get near her to adopt her.
Then a skip hire firm adopted her as a guard dog and it looked like a good option until Wendy and the kennel owners visited her a few days later and found the pitiful lonely cold existence that she was leading in an outside kennel in a cage next to the huge wheels of the noisy lorries constantly going past her.
Helen the kennel owner bought her back and Wendy vowed there and then that she would have a forever home with her. And so it was.  A year of intense training then ensued with a private behavioural trainer and with the Rottweiler rescue and eventually after many many patient months it was concluded that this was as good as it could get. Wendy was taught how to manage Sophie and that Sophie needed at least 3 feet of space from all strangers zero eye contact.

And so they set off into the sunset.

Sophie loves being near the people she trusts, she loves paddling in the sea. She loves sitting on her pink rug looking out at the garden at the passers by, the sky, the birds. She loves to lay in the sun.

Vet visits were a terrifying and overwhelmingly stressful time for both dog and vet and her prevailing arthritis and age made insurance a very difficult option. So Wendy saved for those rainy days. Which came on Mothering Sunday where Sophie after acting oddly for the morning and stumbling on the morning walk,  collapsed in the garden in Wendys arms. Help came from the kennel who Sophie knows and helped stretcher her into the car and to the emergency services of the very wonderful Medivet, whose staff and ethic are totally wonderful. After initial emergency checks proved inconclusive, Wendy decided after a lot of thought, that Sophie should be  sedated and scanned and X-rayed. What came up was  an obstruction in the lower portion of her gut which turned out to be a serrated beer bottle top and some stones.
An immediate operation was urged whilst she was already under sedation  as leaving this obstruction could have caused laceration, peritonitis and probable painful death.  The moment of urgency was now upon the team and the decision was quickly made to proceed. The cap was expertly eased safely back into the belly and removed. Sophie is now comfortable in after care on strong pain relief and is recovering well and being encouraged to stand and walk assisted by manual therapy. She still has full feeling in legs and spine and  all other functions are normal.

As you can imagine the vet bills mounted up. Currently over £4000. Wendy has used her rainy day savings, has managed to borrow some, and is doing everything she can to raise more. We know that  Wendy would never ask for help herself but she would be the first to help anyone else where she could.

❤  If you can help in any small way for her recovery it will be so gratefully appreciated. Any little will help so enormously. To the world this is just one dog.. to this dog... we are her whole world. ❤ Thank you ❤
