Barb's Medical & Rehab

On February 1, 2016, my mom, Barb Hansen, suffered a brain aneurysm.  She was found on the floor holding her head.  We called 911 and had an ambulance take her to the hospital.  After about 3 hours they did a CAT scan and discovered she had blood on her brain.  After a 2nd CAT scan they discovered she had an aneurysm 2 inches back from right between the eyes, and it was still bleeding.  They had to go in and clip the blood vessel.  Surgery lasted about 7 hours and she was in ICU for about a week and a half.   She had about 50 staples on 1 side and a drain tube on the other.  It took them a little over a week to get all the blood off her brain.

They say she is recovering physically very good, however she has short term memory loss and has to have 24 hour care and rehabilitation.  We are going to have to move her to a nursing home & hope that the rehab gets her back.  In the meantime, she is on FMLA from work and we have to pay her out of pocket deductable and her insurance premiums to make sure the nursing home is covered.  

We were just told today that she has been excepted to a nursing home here in town, which is not easy, but we have to pay that out of pocket deductable first. 

I have great hopes that with the rehab she will get in the nursing home, my mom can get at least some of that short term memory back and some of the other problem solving skills working again.  At this point she has almost completely stopped talking.  She was talking last week, so she is desperate in need of this rehab.  I know my mom is not happy in the state of mind she is in right now & i just want at least some of my mom back!
