Meeting the family of one of the children we are supporting in school.

Ronald Mwaka who works with Yahweh Foundation and is absolutely gifted with the street kids and their families.

Devotions with the street kids. They are given breakfast at these meetings and learn about God and how he relates to their lives.

The nicest boarding school we saw. Most are not as well kept because there is not money available for such niceties.
This is one of my very favorite little boys! For his privacy and protection I can't post a better picture, but this is him after putting on his new school uniform and wearing the backpack we bought him filled with all of his school supplies. This boy is very serious all the time. I don't think I saw him smile until he came out with all of his new things.
The children on our shopping trip for school supplies, including things for boarding school like mattresses, a bucket and soap for washing clothes, a locker to keep their things in, etc. The beautiful girl in the front whispered to me as we walked to get our first item, backpacks, and said "They are very expensive." I said don't you worry about it, someone else has paid for everything for you!

FAYTH - For All Youth There's Hope:
Supporting at-risk Ugandan youth in schools and housing, repairing the lives of street children and helping those in extreme poverty, all in the name of Jesus.

We need your help right away! Some of these fees are due immediately and some on a monthly basis and needed for March rent and housing expenses.

The purpose for the $15,000 amount of my goal is $6000 (about $600/month) to run a house for street children, $3,000 toward a year's school fees for street kids and poverty stricken children (the amount is actually about double that but a local donor pays half), $1,000 for unanticipated expenses directly related to caring for the children for the next year, and $5,000 to cover my fees to register as a Christian charity so your donations can be tax-deductible in the future. Any of that $5,000 not used for establishing the charity will go toward the expenses listed above.  The money raised will first go to the expenses in Uganda, and second to setting up the charity. Of course anything over the $15,000 goes toward the work in Africa. At this time FAYTH (the name of my future charity) does not have any operational expenses that I cannot cover.

Our Story
In 2003 I (Lisa Phillips Thurman) was visiting a children's home in Mozambique. The children there were either street kids the organization had picked up, orphans or abandoned children. Some were malnourished, some HIV positive, some healthy, but all emotionally scarred.
One afternoon I lay down to rest and had a vision from God. I saw a little boy standing under an acacia (umbrella) tree with a beautiful landscape of a savannah behind him. He was wearing a little flat hat on his head and was speaking to me in his own language but what he was saying was obviously important and urgent. Then another little boy stepped out and joined the other, also talking to me in his language and gesturing to me. I had no idea what it was about. I prayed about it and the next day God clearly said to me "The children are calling you". Since then I've been waiting to find out exactley what, where, when and with whom that would begin.

While spending the summer of 2013 in Gulu, Uganda, I met a contact who worked with street children. I saw the impact he and his partner and their board were making on the street children and was so touched. I felt God telling me this was where I was to start. Currently I'm partnered with Yahweh Foundation and Richard Kakanyero in Gulu, Uganda, Africa.  With him on the ground directing the daily workings, together we (and a wonderful person here in the US) are sponsoring 14 children in both day schools and boarding schools, and a newly established rehabilitation home that has been a dream of Yahweh Foundation founder Richard Kakanyero for many years. There he currently houses 5 children - street kids - with the goal of mentoring them, discipling them, bringing them into good health, educating them (4 are ready for school, not included in the above number) and most importantly reuniting them with family members whenever possible, all in the name of Jesus. Reunion (and teaching them about relationship with Jesus) is the main goal. Richard, his wife and his wonderful, devoted Christian  partner in this work, Ronald Mwaka, run the home, counsel the children, teach them how to live again in a home with authority figures and work within other people's boundaries, teach them the ways of God, and also continue their devotions and ministry to children still living on the streets. These two men also mentor and counsel the families of the children they are working to return home so that everyone is prepared and the reunion will be a success. They have successfully returned many children to family members  over the last few years. Of course, if the primary home is not safe, they are not returned there but to another family like an aunt or grandmother.

As Christians we have a mandate directly from God to care for all of His children regardless of age, gender, race, religion or anything else. Orphans and widows are very high on His list in His written Word, the Bible.

Matthew 24:34-40 is Jesus talking to all of us after He returns for His children - at the Second Coming. This is one thing He says:

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Let's put this scripture into action. Not everyone is called to go to another country for Jesus, but some are called to support another person or group either financially or by fundraising or providing administrative help, or by supporting the people and work in prayer, or in different ways, as God puts it on your hears. As I interpret the Bible, we are ALL called to this purpose in one way or another. This is such an AMAZING gift to these children and families. It is truly life changing, and the only chance some of these people have of making a decent life for themselves and their families. Don't let this opportunity pass you by. We are the hands and feet of Jesus in this world. Maybe one day you will travel there with me and see what you have done and the difference you have made! That would be an amazing trip! Please pray and ask the Lord if you are to partner with us in some way, and how much he asks you to donate. You can do so on a one-time basis or monthly, however it would work best for you.

I am so grateful for any and all donations, whether it's $20 or $2,000 or $20,000. This work cannot be done without you! Yahweh Foundation, whose goal is to become self-supporting, will be and already is incredibly thankful for us all as they cannot accomplish this work without you at this time, and they have more faith than anyone I've ever met, so they know the true source of their support is God and that HE ALWAYS comes through. Be a part of how He comes through for His people and His plans.

Thank you for your support in Jesus' name! -Lisa Phillips

Just a note of reassurance...
Having spent time with Richard, Ronald and the families and children in Uganda I am confident that your funds are being used in the manner in which they are intended. I met the children, their families, went shopping for the initial supplies for the children's school so I know how much to expect for expenses, and was a part of physically taking the children to enroll in school.
This is to let you know I am not sending your money to some unknown African group. There are many scammers out there and Richard understands that as well. He is careful to keep good records and send me receipts or budgets to account for the spending. He is a worker for a Greater Kingdom and does not take his responsibility lightly. He is well regarded in the community, so much so that the police work with him on issues regarding the street kids and even bring children to him who need help. They brought him a 3 year old to care for until his family could come and get him. He was rescued from an abusive situation at home and was being moved to live with more caring family members. That's just an example.
