#YashsaidKay Donation Fund

Donation protected
Hello lovely people,

Over the last 12 years, one of the corner stones of our relationship has been our mutual desire to help and give back to our surroundings in our little way. As we get married and start a lifelong journey together, we have decided to do away with the traditional give-the-newly-weds-a-gift idea.

Kay and I have decided to ask your help in raising funds for 2 charities/NGOs whose work we are passionate about, and would like to support: India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF), and the Humane Animal Society (HAS). So, this is essentially our registry!

How this will work: Very simply, all the money that you guys contribute along with the €500 that Kay and I will be contributing will be split 50-50 between the two organizations.

How much to donate: Think about how much you were planning to spend on the gift and kindly donate the same amount here instead :)

How to donate: GoFundMe only accepts credit/debit cards. So, no bank transfers or PayTM.

Recommendation: Make group donations and mention the people involved in the transaction comments.

Here's a short description of the 2 organizations:

1.  India Development and Relief Fund (IDRF)

The IDRF is a US-based public charity that works with a network of NGOs in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. They work on breaking the cycle of poverty by empowering people with skills, services, and infrastructure grounded in sustainable development. You can read more about the work they do on their website (linked above). If curious, please read Charity Navigator's evaluation report of IDRF  as a charity.

We are specifically interested in donating to:

The Village Energy Program - Tamil Nadu

IDRF started an innovative program with SVRDS (Swami Vivekananda Rural Development Society) in 2017, to provide electric power generated from renewable energy resources to 100 villages. People in these villages have either limited or unreliable access to electric power. This program aims to convert solar energy into regular electricity through photovoltaic (PV) system. Solar PV systems of 250 watt capacity, with battery storage, fan and LED lights along with a power strip to charge power tools are being installed at one room-school building (popularly known as Single Teacher School) in each village.

2. The Humane Animal Society - Coimbatore

Humane Animal Society, Coimbatore Chapter was started in 2006 to address the animal welfare needs in the city of Coimbatore, and carry out the critical function of ABC (Animal Birth Control). They strive to rescue, treat, rehabilitate, feed, and love animals that need us the most.

They run Veterinary Clinics, Rescues, and Adoptions. Kay has had personal experience with them in the past and absolutely loves the work they do in our lovely city. You can check out their website (linked above).

Please let us know if you have any questions about this!

Thank you for joining us on our little quest!

Lots of love,
Yash and Kay
