Yaakov's Jewish School Fund

Donation protected
Yaakov is a special nine year old born with a rare chromosome disorder and Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome. Yaakov is a happy and inquisitive young fella with a highly spiritual nature. He desperately wants to attend a Jewish school to learn torah on his level. We need your help to enroll Yaakov in a Special Jewish School.

Yaakov keeps asking...

"Mommy, I want to go to a Jewish school... "

" Mommy, why can Avi and Mayer go to Jewish school and not me?"

" Tatty, I want to daven to Hashem. Tatty, can you teach me how?"

When little Yaakov says a bracha (blessing) before food he’ll refuse to eat before hearing a loud amen from those present. He tries to pray daily. Yaakov's soul yearns and aches to learn more Yiddishkeit. When you tell Yaakov a parsha (Bible) story his eyes light up and it gives him the energy to go on.

Yaakov was born with congenital heart failure and many complications ensued. We spent our days between the hospital walls for the first two years and a half of our precious Yaakov's life. We’ve watched him withstand Thirteen surgeries, but he persevered so bravely. Yaakov grew older and bigger and more handsome every day. At the age of five it became immensely complicated to take care of him with all his physical and behavioral issues. Yaakov now boards at a group home for children with special needs.

Yaakov is a happy boy, determined to do the best with what he has. Indeed, he’s been reaching one milestone after another. Aged six he started to ask questions like "Who created the world?" and "Why do we daven?" He wants to know about the yomim tovim (Jewish Holidays) and every Yiddishe thing he sees. His soul keeps yearning for Yiddishkeit.

At one point Yaakov started showing signs of depression. He became a troubled youngster. No one of the many doctors and behavioral experts could pin-point why he wasn't happy. He would cry, beg and plead for new Lego or other toys thinking it would make him happy but nothing worked. After playing five minutes he would get rid of the toy and ask for something else. It was heartbreaking to watch. He was searching for something that we couldn’t buy in Toys R us. Something that could bring him real hope and joy.

After Yaakov would complain relentlessly about his public school teacher who wouldn’t pray with him, we scraped together the funds to hire a private torah tutor. As soon as Yaakov started with the torah tutor his eyes lit up with delight. He loves to talk about what he learned in the one hour with his tutor. The torah lessons has eliveated his depression.  We’re glad to have found the missing ingredient that would make Yaakov happy.

Yaakov wants to say a bracha loud and everyone answering AMEN. He wants to learn more about the parshe and about Yiddishkeit. Yet above all, Yaakov needs an abundance of of love and care—the kind that’s best provided in a warm Yiddishe environment.

Yaakov keeps asking everyday the dreaded question."Mommy, am I going to a Jewish school this year????" Let’s say YES by contributing to this fund!

It’s pretty easy to light up the eyes of our innocent little brother. He just wants to learn in a Yiddishe School for the upcoming school year. In the merit of helping our precious Yaakov, may you all be blessed with an abundance of love and care from the one above.
