help me get well

Donation protected
My name is Faye Jones. I am the secretary at St Patrick Church where Steve last worked before he got sick.  Many of the ladies at this church have asked me to set up this GoFundMe account to help him.  I am the administrator of this account.  The money is going to a special account - in my name, for his benefit.  I am keeping very good records on his behalf.  And I am willing to show anyone who asks.  The first donation that was made on this site was made by me when I opened the account.  But because we are using my e-mail account for this fund it shows up here as Steve making that donation.  I have not been able to find a way to change that.  I just want everyone to understand this confusing matter!  Thank you for any help you can give Steve.

Here is his story:

My name is Steven Pucino.  I grew up in Jordan, New York, and attended Jordan-Elbridge High School – graduating in 1980.  I finished my education at the University of Florida, Gainsville.  For 18 years I worked for Water Resources International at the Gainsville, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Orlando offices.  During that time, I built a career by working my way up to Senior Manager.  I purchased a home in Jacksonville Beach and lived a productive, gratifying life.

In 2007 my parents, Mary and Harry, became quite ill with Alzheimers.  I quit my job and sold my possessions to come home and care for them until the ends of their lives in 2011.  On May 13, 2005 I became a Dad!  My daughter is now 13 years old.

As most of you probably know, on August 24th, 2017 I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, Stage 3.  I began Chemotherapy for my condition as soon as it could be arranged.  Following one of my first sessions of Chemo, I had a slight heart attack.  A stent was put in place and more medications were added to my regiment.

A scan after my first round revealed that the mass had shrunken slightly.  More chemo was needed, however.  The doctors routinely monitor my progress with scans, x-rays and blood work.  In January my Chemo treatments were stopped because I was near renal failure.  I have not resumed those treatments, because of that situation.

I have now undergone surgery to remove the cancerous tumor.  After my recovery from surgery another scan was preformed.  Unfortunately, my cancer has spread to my liver.  I am currently receiving immuno -theropy treatments.

So far, my health insurance has been cooperative with my treatments.  They have covered my doctor and treatment costs sufficiently.  I was able to receive disability from my job for only 26 weeks; and sadly, that has long run out.  I have applied for Social Security Disability, but there are strict rules about length of employment prior to application.  Because I quit my job to care for my ailing parents, I do not have an immediate work history of 5 years.  For disability, they only look at the most recent 5 years – not life years.  And I am not old enough to qualify for old age Social Security.

My parents left me the house that my daughter and I live in when they passed.  However, I currently have no income.  And without a job, I have used all of my resources to pay only the barest of our necessities. I find that I cannot pay my property taxes or make any repairs that homeowners face.  I also need help just keeping up with my regular monthly expenses like my gas and electric/water/phone and car insurance and repairs bills plus gasoline to drive back and forth to my appointments.

Many of my friends and relatives have been very generous – monetarily and prayerfully.  I cannot express my thanks in mere words.  You can never know how humbling such an experience can be until you have lived with such tragedy.  Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for myself and my family.  God Bless.
