My name is Darrin Madison, When I was 14 I decide that whatever career I chose to pursue in life it would be to enhance the quality of life of Milwaukee. To many young people want to abandon Milwaukee, I want to see this unrefined gem shine.
I am currently a Biology major Political Science Minor in the Interdisplinary program focusing on environmental policy at Howard University. I have the intention of becoming an Environmental Lawyer - fighting for the perservation of natural resources in our state and in our country.
My first year at Howard University was an amazing experience and also a huge struggle. I made amazing connections and participated in activities that gave me experience that support my goals. But navigating a schools Administration is a very difficult task. I was able to finish my first year with good grades and some great oppritunities if I continue my education, but at a hefty expense. Now, I am participating in an great Americorp program called Public Allies working at the Urban Ecology Center as their . This program gives me a access to skills and other programs I wouldn't have access to with out it. Also I recieve an education award. Furthermore I using the funds I get from working there outside of living expenses to make a gap in my debt to Howard . But I need the support of my community to be successful.
