So I will go through a little back story. Mason was born 12/14 at mission hospital and shipped to CMC on 12/16 diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta and a large VSD.
12/18 he had his first operation a repair of the coarctation.
On 12/26 he was diagnosed with failure to thrive and stopped eating by mouth. He then gained an ng tube and began being fed through it.
1/17 mason was diagnosed with rsv. Which for heart babies can be life threatening. We spent two weeks in the picu. He never had to be intubated but on high flow oxygen for the extended time.
2/12 mason was diagnosed with a recoarctation of his aorta. We had to go back to Charlotte for 16 days this admission and get a cardiac cath to Balloon his coarc back open.
4/3 mason had another surgery in Charlotte to have a g tube placed. This was because he won’t eat by bottle. He has a very bad aversion from the multiple suctions, intubations , and ng insertions.
4/16 mason was diagnosed with yet ANOTHER recoarctation of his aorta and will require another cardiac cath. Which means another intubation and sedation. It also means we will backtrack in weight and in feedings. As his belly doesn’t get good perfusion so he can only have minimal feeds and they have to be run through his tube on a continuous basis to take some of the work off his belly.
His cath is currently scheduled for Thursday 4/25 in Charlotte. We are praying it will be quick and easy.
Because we have had to spend so much time at home and in the hospital we haven’t gotten a full paycheck in months. And every time we think we catch up we are slapped in the face. Our goal is to pay up bills until we can get past this next hurdle.
