Mr. Vandegrift's Classroom Tables

Hi, It's Mr. Vandegrift! I have taught science for 21 years at my middle school and Francis Parker School for the last two years. I have had an amazing time  teaching my students about the wonders of the natural world around them over all these years!

As I began my transition back to my former middle school, I discovered that the science tables in the classroom are falling apart and pretty worn out.  

Most of the black side guards have fallen off and the veneer laminate top edges broken  which is causing the interior structure of the tables to fall apart. The condition of the current desks are a safety issue (with the exposed sharp edges) as well as not creating a positive learning environment.

I have always taken a lot of proud in my classroom and the way it looks. I always want to create a clean, safe, and fun learning environment that produces high levels of learning for all students.

Would you consider donating so I can purchase new science tables by the end of July? The table delivery takes 3 to 4 weeks. 

Each science table costs $450, which includes the shipping. I already have one friend that has pledged $3,000 towards the tables. I need a total of 18 Epoxy Resin Top Science Table (48”W x 24”D photo above). These table are high quality and will last the remainder of my teaching career (15-20 yrs left). It would be a great investment into students’ lives that will be positively impacted for years to come. Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Five dollars. Fifty dollars. Five hundred dollars. Five thousand dollars. Maybe you are in a postition to purchase one table. That would be AWESOME!

In 23 years of teaching I have spent thousands of dollars of my own money on teaching supplies, but have never had to go out and ask for funds. It seems kind of awkward and I’m not sure how to go about it. I just know I need the science tables to be replaced and I believe I will be able to raise the funds.
