Drew's Hot Dog Business

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Drew.  If you're reading this you probably know me.  What you probably didn't know is I'm starting my own mobile food vending business, specifically, for now, a hot dog cart.

I am in the process of building my cart.  I have saved at least a thousand dollars by doing so and have enjoyed the process so far.  For the most part, I plan on selling premier, all-beef, quarter pound hot dogs, along with complementary drinks and snacks.

Why hot dogs?  It boils down to two intersecting ideas:  First, I have always wanted to try my hand at entrepreneurship.   However, startups cost money and I have a relatively new son and a new house to consider when making risk/reward decisions.  Hot dog carts have low startup costs and I believe I can generate the revenue that makes such an effort worthwhile.  Second, I have always enjoyed my experiences working to serve tasty, convenient food.  My first job was working at McDonald's and I later was an assistant manager at Pal's Sudden Service.  I enjoyed interacting with customers and producing decent, reasonably priced food.  However, the income potential provided by both establishments did not inspire career planning on my part.  So, simply, I can afford to start a business doing something I really enjoy.

Along with building my own cart, I have funded my operation thus far by selling much of my music gear.  Indeed, my favorite guitar is hanging for sale in the Guitar Vault in Morristown, TN.  I would love to keep all my music gear, fund the fixer-upping of my fixer-upper house, maintain the extravagant lifestyle of my two year old (he eats everyday!), and fund my startup without asking for help, but...

So, now I am inviting my family and friends to participate in my venture.  I could really use some cash to purchase the necessary insurance and health licenses required by the state of Tennessee to operate.  If I exceed the required amount to do those things, I will put the extra money towards marketing (signage, etc.) and a citrus press to make and sell hand squeezed lemonade from my cart.

You can visit my extraordinarily simple website at eatdrewsfood.com.  I will have my menu and schedule posted as soon as I figure them out.

Thanks!
Drew
