Travis Joseph Bones Memorial Fund

On August 25, 2018, nine days after his 4th birthday, Travis Joseph Bones passed away unexpectedly after developing a fever and flu-like symptoms. His momma, Allison Bones, took him to urgent care and consulted with his pediatrician; all thought this was just a routine illness.  No one expected that less than 10 hours later we would be living life without Travis in it.

This sad day has led to immeasurable grief for all who had the privilege of knowing this vibrant, smart and energetic little boy. Travis loved the color orange, raspberries, baseball and swimming. He loved firetrucks, riding horses, playing with his friends, and dancing the Polka.  He packed so many adventures into his short life, seeing six states, taking multiple trips to California to entertain his great-grandmother and spending as much time as possible with his beloved grandparents, "Ba" Nancy, Grampy Joe, Grandpa Larry and Grandma Kay and a host of treasured aunts and uncles. Travis's laugh was contagious and his smile lit up every room he walked into.  He adored helping Momma around the house, turning mundane chores into fun, delighting in his accomplishments ("Super Gecko Muscles" was a common refrain).

For the Bones family, the last 6 years have been filled with tragic loss. Together Allison and Jamie grieved for their twins, Shelby & Dalton, who were born prematurely in January 2012 and passed respectively at 8 days of age and 4 days of age.  In October 2015, Allison's father Joe D'Ambrosio died after his 9 year battle with 2 types of Stage 4 cancer. Less than four short months after Travis was born, his Daddy Jamie was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and spent 33 days in the hospital after having his colon removed.  In late 2017, Jamie's cancer metastasized and on March 25, 2018, he lost his battle with cancer.  Now, five months to the day, Allison's remaining light has been extinguished. There are no words to describe the tragedy of a mother enduring the death of her three children, father and husband. There just aren't.

Allison is faced with a million decisions, including trying to create a legacy for Travis. In a time when no mother should have to endure the magnitude of these tragedies, the last thing I want is for her to worry about managing finances.

For all who have expressed the desire to support her, we invite you to contribute to the Travis Joseph Bones memorial fund in lieu of flowers or other charitable donations.  Allison is going to need love and ongoing support from all of us. I thank you from the bottom of my broken heart for helping in anyway you are able.
