Veteran Family Struggling - Tragedy - Dad Deployed

Donation protected
We are a group of current military members and federal contractors deployed to Afghanistan raising money for our good friend Tim.

Tim is a prior enlisted U.S. Marine and is currently serving as a Federal Contractor for the Department of Defense supporting our warfighters here in Afghanistan.

Tim is married with 6 children and he was born the oldest of 11 children.  While deployed here in Afghanistan with us, Tim's family incurred a significant tragedy.  One of Tim's younger brothers, who had been suffering from mental illness, shot and killed Tim's mother Lisa of Greenville, Texas.  This happened in her vehicle in front of Tim's youngest three siblings.

After Tim's mom was killed, he quietly paid out of pocket thousands of dollars to fly back to the United States to bury his mom.  Tim's younger brother who killed her is now in prison.  This event has been deeply traumatic for Tim, his wife, his children, and his siblings.  Tim's father is still alive, but is elderly and is suffering from late stage Parkinsons.  Tim supports not only his wife and 6 children, but also to an extent, his siblings.

After his mom's funeral, Tim returned immediately to Afghanistan.  Tim's wife is a stay-at-home mom caring for their 6 children, 2 of which have autism and require full-time care.  She is overwhelmed and the kids are traumatized by recent events.

In July 2019, one of Tim's sons attempted suicide by overdosing on sleeping pills due to deep depression issues.   His boy survived and is currently just exiting outpatient care. Due to the massive responsibilities Tim maintains as the sole provider to such a large family, Tim has not been able to leave Afghanistan to spend time with his family during this crisis.  He must work and he must maintain medical insurance due to the special needs of his children.

To compound issues, the plumbing in the house broke, causing $2k in damages.  The family is on credit and has no "rainy day" fund.

Tim's brothers and sisters in arms want to help Tim and his family.  We sat down with Tim and had a sincere business discussion on what the budget would need to be to help his family during this difficult time.  We figure that Tim needs to get home to his family for a few weeks to settle things down during this traumatic time.  Tim's Federal Contractor company does not provide paid time off or comp personal travel, even in emergency circumstances.  Two roundtrip flights between Afghanistan and the United States will run $4,000 and Tim will need funds during this time with family - we estimate $5,000 for billpay.  The house plumbing issue is $2,000.  We figure about $2,000 for counseling for Tim's boy, gas in the car for 2-3 days per week of appointments and an occasional babysitter to help Tim's wife with her massive overwhelming responsibilities with 6 kids; 2 of which are full-time special needs and 1 who just attempted suicide.  We think this family needs a rainy day fund, as we assess that at $2,000 for emergencies, since the family has eaten up their savings from recent crises.  In total, that aggregates to $15,000.  This money will help this Veteran family reset after a series of horrific circumstances.

Tim did not ask for help.  This is a proud, hardworking American hero, husband and father.  He knew his family needed help, and only agreed after we had a heart-to-heart with him.  If anyone is deserving of a hand, it's Tim.  He's an honorable man.  Asking our fellow servicemember brothers and sisters and anyone else who would like to help to pitch in for this brother!

Thanks.
