Help Mike visit his family

There comes a time in a person life’s when they see their own rock and safe place start to weaken.  And it is for this reason I appeal to the generosity of my family and friends.  I want to fund a trip home to Lebanon for my husband Mike.

My plea comes from what I have been witnessing lately as he seems more homesick than usual – listening to Lebanese music; expressing his sadness about missing his nephew's funeral this past summer and his worries which keep him up at nights about his mother and his brother who was left a quadriplegic after a serious car accident two years ago.

I’ve never done this sort of thing before.  But, I feel I have no other recourse since we live pay cheque to pay cheque which leaves no “extra” money to set aside for a rainy day.  I realize my story doesn’t sound much different from most however, in the past 30 years Mike’s only seen his family once; the last time was just prior to his father’s death 10 years ago.

He came to Canada from a war zone.  His eight-year-old brother died after stepping on a landmine which Mike witnessed. He’d walk through corpses at the hospital, waiting for survived family members and after surviving all that we lost our first child at the age of 6, due to a teenager driving impaired.

To escape conscription from the Lebanese Army, Mike left his homeland at age 17 with $25 in his pocket. Since stepping foot on this land, he has worked construction jobs, odd jobs – jobs no one wanted and not once has he been a burden to the system. And despite all this loss and hardship Mike would be the first person to help someone in need.  He is a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is a pretty remarkable soul.

He would never ask for this help and is unaware I am posting this. As I said any little bit would be helpful even 5 dollars and to share this with others or like my post.  I appreciate in advance any amount you can spare. The goal includes round trip airfare and incidentals as well as the go fund me fees.
