Young Filmmakers Create PTSD Film

Donation protected
“A Theory for Tangled Wires” is a low-budget psychological thriller that centers on two people, an ex-marine and a writer, whose lives intertwine over a potential cure for PTSD.

If you stood up in agreement when Patricia Arquette gave her acceptance speech in this year’s Oscars, this is your chance to act!

We are two young filmmakers passionate about intelligent, eye-opening, creative ideas. We value the vulnerability and humane perspective that women bring to stories. A script written by two men, we are bringing on the best female director in the world, my mom, to direct. She’s directed episodes of 30 Rock and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. She’s brought on a production team that has worked on hundreds of commercials and a DP with credits on The Leftovers and The Americans. These professionals are donating their time and talents to support this film.

The film will be submitted to festivals in the hopes of attaining official selection. This is a proof of concept for a full feature film, though as a stand alone short version, we feel will make waves.

By funding this project, you are supporting women in film, awareness of PTSD, and two broke young writers in LA.  This film will be shot in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE.

The Team

Cameron Cowperthwaite - Creator/Writer/Actor

A mama’s boy and a student at The Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles. I was a Kinesiology and Applied Physiology Major at the University of Delaware and made the obvious decision to transition into the film business.

Nick Ricciardi - Creator/Writer/Actor

A certified personal trainer and a student at The Howard Fine Acting Studio in Los Angeles. I was an Screenwriting/Playwriting major at Drexel University, now pursuing my dreams of story-telling. Unlike my teammate, I actually plan on using my degree.

Claire Cowperthwaite - Director

A writer, director, and script supervisor with reputable TV and film credits including The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, The Wire, 30 Rock, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I have worked in theater my whole life and bring a sense of “the stage” and the freedom that comes along with that to the screen.

Here is a monologue, performed by our co-lead/co-creator, which is the insipiration surrounding our marine character: https://vimeo.com/nicholasricciardi
