Stepping Out In Faith
Dave and I are raising money to assist my sister-in-law and her family in achieving their goal of becoming full time missionaries. Matt, Mary Beth, Lewis, & Grace will need to raise a total of $20,000 between now and June 2018 to cover the expenses of global entry cards, YWAM tuition for their family of four, airfare & outreach program fees, Mexico Visas, and insurance coverage which will allow them to move forward in this awesome jouney in faith.The fundraising amount associated with this go fund me account would cover their breakdown of expenses through March 2018. Our paths first crossed in the middle of Siberia. Mary Beth and I had both desired to serve God in missions and Russia was where two separate dreams began to merge. Within 6 months of returning from a foreign country where we met as perfect strangers, we became man and wife. Within the following couple of years we went on to serve God in Puerto Rico and Mexico, always knowing that at some point full time missions would be more than just a dream for us. Our children blessed our home in 2004 and 2005. Our lives were full with jobs, kids, a mortgage, and all the various distractions of life. These distractions played a part in keeping us "on the bench" so to speak.
In 2014 our family went on a mission trip to Guaymas, Mexico. God was preparing our family for the future. 2016 presented a change in church homes and a challenge from our new pastor to lead a mission trip in Ensenada, Mexico with Homes of Hope. After that successful trip, we felt that God was calling us and another family from our church to missions. We challenged the Curtis family to a 90 day prayer challenge. For 3 months we intentionally prayed specifically about missions and as that 90 days came to an end, the 2 families asked eachother where we thought God was leading us. Now, 30 days later, both families are enrolled in Discipleship Training School through the University of Nations at YWAM (Youth With A Mission) and scheduled to begin in April of 2018.
