Thank you for taking the time to read this Gofundme page that I created for my fiance Shannon Symons.
On September 1st of 2017 just a few days before her 34th birthday Shannon was diagnosed with stage 3, triple negative, invasive ductal cell carcinoma.
The tumor was discovered on her right breast and in two of her lymph nodes. Because it was growing at such a rapid pace they decided to start her chemotherapy as soon as possible.
She has been through a 4 dose, once every other week round of Doxorubicen and Cytoxin combo termed the red devil, due to it's color and the severity of it's side effects. She is currently in the sixth week of her 12 week chemo treatment with Taxol. After she completes the Taxol she will undergo surgery having a double mastectomy and lymphadenectomy in February. After the surgery she will be treated with 6 weeks of radiation and then a 6 month recovery period before reconstructive surgery.
Starting a Gofundme page was not something I wanted to have to do. But unfortunately cancer has not just taken it's toll on Shannons body but also her finances. Shannon has been unable to work or collect disability due to the circumstances of her previous job. So this has been an extremely difficult time and there is still at least a year of this ahead of us even if everything goes well.
I know that God has a plan for us and we are extremely greatful for what we have especially the amazing care of the doctors and nurses who have been treating her at Riverview Medical Center . Please help Shannon while she beats her cancer. Every little bit means less worry and stress while she recovers and gets back on her feet.
