Help for Bailey

Hi.  My name is Bailey – George Bailey Dakota Bryerose. Yep, there’s a story about that name.  My moms had agreed on Bailey but one mom loves It’s a Wonderful Life and since they brought me home just before Christmas…well, you can probably figure that one out.  The other mom wanted to name me after a football player so I got a really long name.  Anyway, I’ll be 2 years old September 30th.  I’m a happy little boy who loves to play outside, running around my yard with my brothers and sisters – especially my best friend, Maddie.  I make sure the birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer and other assorted critters outside my fence know who the boss is.  I like to stay outside for hours every day, enjoying being me.  

Last week my moms noticed I wasn’t acting like myself.  They took me to see my doctor on Friday and the results from my blood tests were bad because they showed I was severely anemic and critically ill.  I got sent to the UT Vet Hospital.  I had to have a blood transfusion and stayed in ICU for 2 days.  The people at UT are really nice and they’ve taken good care of me, but the blood tests, x-rays and ultrasound have not helped them figure out what’s wrong with me.  Today I had to have a bone marrow scan.  Everyone is hoping it will show I have some kind of weird thing from a tick bite (even though nobody has ever seen a tick on any of us), or at worst an auto-immune disease that can be treated with steroids and such.  

The problem is that all the tests are getting really expensive and no one knows how much medicines might cost to make me better. My moms aren’t ready to give up on me because they love me but we need some help. I want to be able to run and play like I used to.  Me and my moms would be so grateful for any bit of support you can give us, even if you can only share this message with other people.
