The Bengal Rescue Network is a national 501c3 Organization. Our members are volunteers who are active Bengal cat enthusiasts and truly care about these cats' health, welfare and happiness. We hope to ensure that NO Bengal cat roams the streets, goes hungry, sleeps in the cold, requires attention, lacks affection or remains alone to face an uncertain future. In addition to Bengals, we also work with other breeds such as Chausie, Savannah, and Safari.
Many of our rescues come to us without current medical information, unaltered, or have age-related special needs. Costs incurred for vet visits can become significant, and in addition to the medical fees there are subsequent costs such as special food/diets and long term medical care.
While many of our foster homes (to learn more about volunteering, click here ) enter this process knowing they will provide food, litter and love, it can be difficult to expect them to cover other special costs. For example, a recent rescue incurred over $1,000 in vet bills in just 3 months and will have a need for ongoing veterinary food for his remaining life. These expenses do add up.
It is our goal to completely support our rescues, allowing our foster homes to focus on retraining/behavior issues, and creating a new trust between human and cat.
Our goal is based on a minimum conservative annual estimate. Simply put, $100 in medical expenses x 100 cats is $10,000. When you include food, litter and incidentals, the cost rises significantly.
