The Bengal Rescue Network is a national 501c3 Organization.  Our members are volunteers who are active Bengal cat enthusiasts and truly care about these cats' health, welfare and happiness. We hope to ensure that NO Bengal cat roams the streets, goes hungry, sleeps in the cold, requires attention, lacks affection or remains alone to face an uncertain future.  In addition to Bengals, we also work with other breeds such as Chausie, Savannah, and Safari.

Many of our rescues come to us without current medical information, unaltered, or have age-related special needs.  Costs incurred for vet visits can become significant, and in addition to the medical fees there are subsequent costs such as special food/diets and long term medical care.

While many of our foster homes (to learn more about volunteering, click here ) enter this process knowing they will provide food, litter and love, it can be difficult to expect them to cover other special costs.  For example, a recent rescue incurred over $1,000 in vet bills in just 3 months and will have a need for ongoing veterinary food for his remaining life.  These expenses do add up.

It is our goal to completely support our rescues, allowing our foster homes to focus on retraining/behavior issues, and creating a new trust between human and cat.

Our goal is based on a minimum conservative annual estimate.  Simply put, $100 in medical expenses x 100 cats is $10,000.  When you include food, litter and incidentals, the cost rises significantly.

Please donate, and allow us to continue our efforts to help and support our beloved breed.

Hello again!!

Bengal Rescue has received two bengals from Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) in Baltimore City.

BRNs current vet bill to bring these cats up to date and available for adoption is $800.00. Donations, as always, are helpful to cover these expenses and continue helping the cats already in Rescue.

Meet Pinto and Nino. They are adult males, 5-7 yrs old. Nino is a brown marble, and Pinto is a brown spot. Both boys have been vetted, neutered, and other medical work done, including teeth and nail trimming. The following is the foster's description:

Nino is a medium haired marble and very soft. He likes petting and will raise up when petted. Pinto is a bit more shy and tolerates petting. Neither has been aggressive with claws or aggressive towards me and I can pick them up. They both use the box and prefer dry food, but Pinto has taken a liking to Purrfectly Chicken.

When they were picked up from BARCS, both were very scared and huddled in their litter box together most of the time. They had not been vetted or neutered and we're quite matted. Their nails had not been trimmed in awhile as some were curled. Their coats we're very dull and they both smelled like the litter box. I tried to comb out Pinto but he wasn't very tolerant and would hiss but Nino enjoyed it more and allowed me to get most of the mats out.

Nino enjoys petting now and Pinto tolerates it but is a bit standoffish still. Nino relies on Pinto when he's scared and will bury his head in Pinto. They can be picked up but are still clingy and prefer to stay in the cage. They are tolerant of other cats as my female Bengal got in the cage and there was no hissing just curiosity. They probably should stay together.

The vet did blood work on both due to age before their neuter, and both we're in good shape. I'll have to call her to find out which one. BARCS told me they we're kept in a wet basement when they we're rescued. The both got neutered and had broken teeth removed and Nino had a lesion in his gums that she fixed. They got their nails trimmed and all the mats removed and a shampoo job. They smell much better now. --Jay--

Repost of Previous Update with Cecil's picture:

Hello all. We at BRN wanted to give you an update as to how your generous donations are being used. Please feel free to pass along and share our information. Below is from one of our volunteers about a new rescue named Cecil.....

Meet Cecil, the newest and most recent face of Bengal Rescue Network (BRN). Cecil was rescued in the past week from an Animal Control Center. The facility was beyond full in their cat area, and had no room to keep him. His future was uncertain. Bengal Rescue Network rallied its volunteers and were able to rescue this boy within 72 hours. Thanks to the Animal Control that saved him, and the Volunteers of BRN that made it happen, and all of you Bengal Rescue Supporters that have donated monies to our most recent fund raising campaign, Cecil is safe and sound in his foster home.

Here is what his foster has to say about Cecil on his day of arrival, placing him in his safe room-

"I opened the travel crate and out came this beautiful Bengal boy, he immediately came and gave me head butts, and my son head butts. He is so friendly and loving and social"

Unfortunately he arrived looking emaciated, weighing only 8 lbs. He had a high fever, was wheezing from a very bad URI , has a major sinus infection and covered in flea dirt.

Thanks to your recent donations, BRN is able to help this cat, see that he is medically taken care of, and nurture him back to health.
He has had two vet visits in one week and he is still in a very scary fight for his life.

The fund raising campaign continues, BRN is constantly needing funds for rescue cats just like Cecil.

Please donate to BRN's fund raising campaign.

In memory of Simba, AKA George Sanders. We adopted him from BRN six years ago; sadly, he passed away last night (3/8/2016) and our hearts are broken. Simba was very loved and had a great life because BRN rescued him. Thank you for allowing us to share our lives with him.
