Bring Lalo Home

Picked up by ICE after almost 30 years of dedication to family and community

Lalo Nava and his wife, Adrianna, have been married for 32 years. They have four children, two grandchildren and one on the way. They have lived in California for 29 years, and their children have been born in the US and have been legal US citizens their entire lives. They are a family of total service to their community. Almost all of Adrianna and Lalo’s siblings have spent their lives in northern California as well.

Three years ago (2015) there was a devastating fire in Weed, CA (the Boles fire). Hundreds of people lost their homes and everything they owned, including the Nava family. As a result their oldest son, Carlos, became a firefighter and has been working with CalFire non-stop on our California fires ever since. Carlos’ and Kaylin’s first baby, a daughter, is due in February.

During the last two years, the Navas were able to settle with the insurance company and bought a home in Redding, California. Adrianna got a job there with the Head Start program working with children, and Lalo worked for a large contractor overseeing hundreds of properties in the Redding area. He has always been the primary supporter of his family and has been in construction all his adult life. Their youngest, high-school aged son is still living with them, as are their two grandchildren.

This past summer, Lalo was going to work as usual. He was getting in his car when three ICE officers arrested him on the spot in front of his wife and grandchildren. He was not even able to go back inside the house or say goodbye to them. He was kept in a cell for a week without rights and then deported to Mexico - while he still has family there, he arrived with nothing.

He is working now with immigration to try and get back to his family so he can continue supporting them, taking care of his grandchildren, children, and wife. He has been away now since June 2018. Without his support, Adrianna cannot afford to provide a home for her son, Daniel, who is still in high school, or her grandchildren that she helps to raise.  In addition, she has taken a sabbatical from work in order to help Lalo work with immigration lawyers.

Without help, she will have to move to Mexico and leave her family here in order to further help Lalo work with immigration so he can come home.

Lalo and Adrianna are loved by many. Like so many others, they came here with dreams and aspirations of a better life, to raise a family, work hard and contribute to their community. From growing up as one of twelve children to becoming a well-respected, hardworking father, husband and grandfather, Lalo’s honesty, dedication, work ethic, and skills are known throughout northern California.

All funds donated (minus GoFundMe’s fees) go directly to Adrianna take care of her family and maintain their home, and to allow Adrianna to travel to Mexico as she and Lalo work with immigration. Lalo should have never, ever been deported. He and Adrianna were inseparable and their family has been torn apart. This is the only life he knows. Lalo’s family and community need him back home.
