Fundraise for Alex Beaupre

In November of last year, Alex (14) awoke one morning for school and suddenly was unable to move her legs. She was taken to Hasbro Hospital and the doctors were initially unable to make a definitive diagnosis, other than to confirm that she was essentially paralyzed from the waist down. After multiple tests and an 11 day stay at Hasbro Hospital, doctors eventually diagnosed her with a condition called “Acute Flaccid Myelitis”. She was transferred to Spaulding Rehab in Boston for five weeks. She is now home and remains in a wheelchair. Doctors are uncertain about her prognosis at this point. She continues to receive outpatient physical and occupational therapy 3 days per week. She is working very hard and we are all proud of her. The goal of the fundraiser is to help purchase specialized equipment for Alex and find ways to enhance her new lifestyle.
