Trying to get back on our feet

In June of 2018, after having her gallbladder removed, my wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. So, a couple of days after that surgery, she had a Whipple surgery to remove part of her pancreas and a piece of her intestine. The surgeon also decided to remove part of her vena cava as that was touching part of the infected area. After a 10 day stay in the hospital, she was released and within a week began to undergo chemo and radiation treatments to “remove any lingering cancer”. Those treatments ended in November 2018.
In April 2019, she underwent a PET scan as a routine follow-up. The results of that scan were that the cancer “came back with a vengeance”. On June 5th of 2019, she underwent surgery again to have the rest of her pancreas and her spleen removed. We are unsure at this time whether she will need further chemo and/or radiation.
So, for the last year my wife has been trying to recover from a major surgery, chemo, radiation, and another major surgery. All the while trying to come to grips with new dietary needs and restrictions. In the last year she has lost over 50 pounds and will probably never be back up to her “normal” weight. And now she is faced with the fact that she must be on insulin for the rest of her life, as well.
As one can imagine, all of this has taken a financial toll on us. The cost of paying for our share of the hospital bills and medications has depleted the little savings we had and has caused us to use credit cards we were not planning on ever having to rely on. All monies collected through these donations will go to paying those bills off so that we can get back on our feet and begin to enjoy our life together again.
Thank you for reading this and for any help you can provide.
