We are the Manatee County Soccer team for athletes with special needs.
We are trying to raise money for equipment and uniforms for our team. What we would love to do is be able to get quality uniforms to wear for practice and our competition events. Not only that, but also for simple practice equipment such as more soccer balls (we train we the 3 we have). Some of our athletes show up to practice in jeans and trainers as they are unable to get proper training attire themselves.
We have athletes of all ability levels including those with Down's syndrome and MR. This is the third year of us competing in soccer and we have already seen an increase in the amount of athletes that come out to be a part of the team. We currently have about 20 athletes that come and participate in practice. We train every week on a Tuesday for the 4 months prior to the State tournament, as well as having to win at the 'Area games' in order to progress to State championship.
The past 2 years we have gone to the State Summer Games for Florida at ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney and won the Gold medal both years.
We have been succesful in our endeveavors in the past 2 seasons and we believe our athletes deserve to look like a real team and have necessary equipment to train as hard as they can push themselves to. I know the whole team would be so excited and would be incredibly thankful for whatever you would be able to put towards this cause to help them get the most out of the program and themselves.
