Cal's Emergency Rent Fund

Donation protected

Hello, My name is Calvin Galloway.
Many of you know me, but for those who don't, or for those whom arent exactly familiar with whats been happening for me for the last two years, I'm a young artist attempting to eek out a humble living in Huntsville Texas.

I come humbly before you today to ask for any help you would be willing to give. I find myself in a lurch for being able to pay my rent for this month and next. I work doing paintings for people online... I dont make much, but I try my hardest and pour my heart and soul into the illustrations that I do. Theyre not the most fantastic art you'll see, but the pieces make the people who buy them happy-- happy to see their ideas and characters brought to life where otherwise they might not ever see such a thing. I like being able to make people happy with my work-- to use my skills to teach and mentor other younger artists and help them to grow.

Even with this however, I can not manage to pay my bills alone currently. I recently had a friend move down from dallas to help me out, he himself facing being chucked out in the street due to his parents divorce, but as a run of bad luck we find that the job he applied to in march, working for the state prison here in huntsville, has only just barely finally given him a start date on the 27th of this month. thats 2 months without any income beyond what pittance I pull from my artwork.

I had until recently had been living with my girlfriend whom was helping me to pay for this apartment via the SSI she got from the government every month. In a fit she suddenly had left me, and abandoned all her debts on my shoulders for this place. in the time since shes been gone, paying the entirety of the utilities and rent has drained me of any savings and valuables I had-- I've pawned everything, save for this laptop, which the pawn shop refused due to its age. She continues to collect SSI on the grounds that the government thinks she's paying for this apartment.

In the mean time, between taking on more illustrations than I can complete, I've been scrambling for any job that would be willing to take me; but between my poor health and varied work history, none have returned any calls.

Please, I emplore you, my roommate and I are so close to being stable and being able to actually have a chance at having a decent life. I dont want to be chucked into the street and the damages from the eviction forced upon my poor mother whom co-signed on this apartment. she does not deserve that shame and monetary burden.

I have tried any loan and fast cash option I could find, but the most my credit will afford me is a $275.00 dollar loan. I have had no help from charity organizations I've contacted because I am not in a place from which their charity services-- and I almost feel like theres no chance in sight.

this money would go to cover our rent for the next two months and make sure that we're not left to picking through the garbage bins for the local restaurants.

RENT: 660
DUE: 5/4/2016
WITH LATE FEE: 760 (25 and then 5/per day after the 4th)
FINAL DAY BEFORE EVICTION: 5/14/2016
FINE FOR LEASE BREAKAGE: 660 x remaining months in lease (5) = $3.5K~

I have donated to charities and volunteered my time to helping those in need for most of my adult life, I also worked as a part of the catholic church as a young boy in community outreach programs and helping the homeless in houston. my mother has donated to the United Way and Goodwill charities as long as I can remember. I hope some of that good will can be reciprocated to help us in our time of need.

I want to have a chance at living a good life- I've survived through living in a toxic waste part of tomball, my father's severe meth addiction and a lifetime of psychological and emotional abuse; I dont want it all to end here, I want to continue on, to do good works and make people happy and proud of themselves. I dont know what I could possibly do to be able to repay the kindness anyone would show in donating, but know from the bottom of my heart that you would have my undying gratititude.

I asked a few of my friends whom know I'm doing this if they could maybe make a comment on their take on me. they wrote:

"Cal is one of the most wonderful people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in this community. He's outspoken, charming, and above all strong-willed.

The best word I could use to describe Cal is "dedicated". He is an immensely loyal friend and a damn good artist.

In all the time Cal's been involved with this community, he has stuck with his convictions and made a name for himself with great art and even greater friendships. I could never ask for anyone better." - Harek

"What I admire about Cal is his tenacity. Even when all odds are against him, he manages to grind and push through it. He's a talented artist and a genuine person with a kind soul under that gruff exterior. He's a very dear friend of mine." -Emm

"

Even if its just a dollar or two to spare, its at least something that will help. worst comes to worst, it will be money to try and make sure that we have somewhat of a chance to eat. If you cant donate but still would like to help? Show this page to your friends and family. The more people it can reach, the better a chance we'll have at finding someone who can help this to grow.

thank you all so much for taking the time to read this, regardless of what happens, god bless.
