Ryan Rothenberger’s Recovery

Donation protected
On Saturday May 26th, Ryan left his mother in laws house to test drive a Harley. He should have returned in a short amount of time. When Ryan hadn’t returned in an hour, his wife Lisa became increasingly nervous. By hour two she was near frantic and called the Jasper County police. For the next 4 hours, law enforcement, friends and family searched the back roads of Rensselaer and surrounding areas. Approximately six hours after Ryan left he was found by a family member 5 min from home down an 8 foot embankment. He was alert and asking for water. He was also extremely sunburned. It was by the grace of god he was discovered, the sheriffs office and family had been down that road multiple times throughout the day.  Ryan was airlifted to Chicago from the scene. He’s not in great shape and has a long road ahead of him. It’s 6:00 am right now and he’s still in surgery.  All we know is his femur is shattered, knee is in traction and they are most concerned with his hip. They tried to relocate it unsuccessfully several times and are surgically trying to relocate it now, among other repairs. If that is unsuccessful he could need a hip replacement.  I wish those were the only three things wrong, they are just the most concerning at this moment.

To know Ryan is to love him. He’s a wonderful father to 4 young boys, loving husband, and all round good friend if you’re lucky enough to know him. Lisa stays home with the kids who are always on the go, and Ryan is the sole provider for their family.
Friends and family, they need our help. While we don’t have much information on recovery this early, it will obviously be long. Lisa is at the hospital now and this is the furthest thing from her mind but once she realizes what lies ahead the stress will set in. I’m hoping we can help them in any way we can. They will have tons of medical bills, I’m sure the helicopter ride alone will be outrageous, not to mention the household bills. So, if you can please donate.

This is Lisa’s last FB post:
Ryan just left for surgery. He has a shattered femur and a broken and out of socket pelvis. They are trying to piece it all back together. I don’t know how long it will take but he will be coming back with some hardware. Thank God we found him and there was only shattered bones. He said he tucked and rolled. Pray for a successful surgery. It will be a long road ahead for him and our family.
