Backpackpalooza fundraiser

Every child wants to start the school year with new clothes, new binders and a new backpack. There's nothing more satisfying than a fresh start, first day of school, first impressions and making new friends. Not all kids feel this way and by no fault of their own their parents can only afford the basics. Backpacks and school supplies tend to come "second."

Backpackpalooza is a special day given to children of families identified as low income students attending schools in San Mateo County who would benefit from the gift of a new backpack and school supplies for the start of school.

We purchase brand new backpacks and fill them with school supplies. We work with non-profit organizations which help us register children (ages 5-17) and invite them to this special giveaway day. The backpacks are then handed to each individual child. The children and their families are treated to a very special day filled with grilled hot dogs, a jump house/slide, balloon twister, live band (made up of talented volunteer musicians) - that’s the palooza part.

They then return home, prepared for a new year of school and hopefully feel the love that 50+ inspired volunteers have given away unconditionally.
