Prayers and Funeral Arrangements for Ryan

Donation protected
If you’ve met my brother you know he’s a fighter. Even the strongest fighters need a break and even the strongest fighters need prayer. On Thursday, March 1, Ryan went to the ER because he was in tremendous pain. He was immediately transferred to Chi St. Luke’s Baylor in Houston where he was diagnosed with end stage liver failure and pancreatitis. He’s fighting an infection and he’s septic. He is critical. He is on dialysis and if he survives the next 24-48 hours, he will need to placed on the liver transplant list. He doesn’t have any insurance and they’ve been completely up front with us that if he makes it through this time that he can’t get the help he needs in order to be have an evaluation for placement on the transplant list. We are working with a social worker but since he’s not from Harris County he’s not eligible for the Gold card and Medicaid is 90 days out for set-up and completion but we are trying to get it going as quickly as possible.  He’s on a ventilator and he has two Central lines. He is on three antibiotics to kill the infection causing the sepsis and theee medications to monitor his blood pressure so his body will tolerate the vent. They are running 24/7 dialysis but his kidneys have shut down. He’s got a 20% chance of surviving.  My mom and dad are making trips back and forth, booking hotels, missing work, and now Ryan is looking at mounting medical bills. All money raised will be used to make sure he gets the care he deserves to live and to help my parents with the cost of being able to be at his side so he is never alone or afraid. If he’s unable to pull through this, the funds will be used towards helping my parents Patricia and Ed Redfern cover funeral costs and other costs associated with his passing. Anything above and beyond those costs will be returned to the donor. We have a great team at the hospital and he’s fighting so hard. We have amazing friends and family. The Chaplain visited this morning and we prayed over him. Those who truly know Ryan know how much he appreciated all that attention! I’ll keep updates coming. Thank you!
