Mary Drake Chavez DR Mission Trip

Hello friends and family!I hope this finds you all well! I am SO excited to share with you an exciting opportunity that I have been blessed with this upcoming Spring Break. Over this past year I have grown immensely in my faith and my love for Christ. This growth in my faith has lead me to participate in my FIRST mission trip ever. I will be going to the Dominican Republic with a group of my sorority sisters from Phi Mu at Ole Miss.  We will be working with "Here For Kids International" (www.hereforkids.org) a certified non-profit that was founded in 2010 in the San Francisco Bay Area.  This organization works with children in orphanages and schools. This mission work focuses on the improving the physical and spiritual life of the children within this community. I hope to be able to introduce them to the transforming power of Jesus Christ so they are enabled to instill hope in others.

While this is a short-term missions trip, I truly believe that my sisters and I are going to be shown a greater vision of God’s heart for the world.  If any of you know me you know this is a huge step of faith for me but one that I am so grateful for and excited about.

My hope is that you would join me on this journey and send me off for a life-changing experience. There are two ways that I am asking for support. The first, and most important is prayer. Please be praying for me and my team as we prepare to visit a new place full of unique culture and tradition. Our hope is to selflessly give and willingly receive the love of Christ, to build lasting relationships, and to see the glory of God on earth. Second, If you are feeling called, you can also support my trip financially. I am so grateful for any donations you can make, but please know that support through prayer, for both the trip and my finances, is truly a blessing.

The total cost for the trip is $2100; this total will cover my airfare, meals during my mission, transportation within the Dominican Republic, and my stay during the mission. The deadline to pay for my trip is 2/20/2017. All donations are completely tax deductible.  If you choose to support, this is a certified nonprofit—it is crucial to include your email address if you would like tax-deductible information! Any money that I raise over the cost of the trip I will use to purchase much needed items for these kids to help our ministry.  I am happy to provide you a list of these items.
