Lucas Goeller is two years old with end stage liver disease. According to the doctors, his time is limited.
Since Lucas was born, he has been in the ICU twice, on a ventilator twice, has had two major surgeries, three blood transfusions, under anesthesia 5 times, has been hospitaled two times over a month straight with additional multiple week stays.
Lucas cannot walk on his own and has very little muscle development. He is sick almost everyday with vomiting and diarrhea. His liver and spleen are getting so big his lungs cannot expand making it hard to breath.
Through all this he remains fearless and happy! A blessing for our family. He is courageous and loving.
Lucas is in desperate need of a new liver, and we are having a very difficult time finding one. Lucas is O- blood type, but he can accept either O- or O+ blood type liver for transplant. He has a UNOS score of 53 which is a significant score but has been waiting on the transplant list for over 1.5 years. He needs a whole liver, and he can accept even an adult in 20's.
Our goal is to find Lucas a new liver. Doctors believe that with a new liver, Lucas will have a long but full recovery. In order to find that liver, we need to raise enough money to gain as much awareness for Lucas and his condition.
Advertising is very expensive: billboards, commercials, radio, news broadcasts etc. Advertising, promoting, and raising awareness is CRUCIAL bexause if another family anywhere in the USA with a terminally ill child/young adult can choose to give their child's liver DIRECTLY to Lucas, but only if they know he exists.
CORE, or the center for organ recovery, suggests that advertising will bring awareness to the importance of an organ donation for Lucas. Putting a pitcure to the cause, let alone a picture, litterally, the size of a billboard, could really make the world of a difference.
