Prayers For Sadie Bug

Sadie was diagnosed with JMML, a rare and aggressive leukemia, in August 2012 when she was 17 months old. Since that time she has undergone 2 bone marrow transplants, endless rounds of chemo, multiple surgeries, and countless other medical treatments, pokes, prods, medicines and hospital stays. We have been advised to remain near her treatment center, which is 3 hours away from our home, due to her compromised immune system and the frequency and nature of her current ongoing treatment. On top of massive and mounting medical debt, we continue to endure living expenses associated with living near her treatment center while simultaneously striving to maintain our much missed home. Unfortunately, because of the aggressiveness of her leukemia, the state of her compromised immune system and her current medical treatment plan, we are no closer to being surrounded in the comforts of our own home than we were 3 years ago…
Sadie is an amazingly resilient sweet and sassy diva despite her heavily diseased bone marrow and the subsequent ugly, harsh treatment she continues to endure. Even during the most grueling days, she strives to make the absolute most of the precious minutes we have. We’ve spent so much time inpatient and outpatient that she’s known and loved by all her incredible doctor and nurse friends. Her father and I (and her younger sister) find much needed inspiration in Sadie’s remarkable resilience as we often feel unbelievably drained in every sense imaginable. Thank you for support.
ps...The amount of $25,000 was randomly pulled out of a hat. Despite our non-frivolousness, it’s exceedingly difficult to budget for cancer and it’s all encompassing effects. Other amounts written down and put in the hat included: $5 (try not getting that Subway jingle stuck in your head! “Five dollar foot long…”), $1,000,000 (said just like Dr. Evil) and 72 cents. Thankfully, Jeff (Sadie’s dad) jotted down and drew out a more feasible amount.
