Kelly Jerdee Funeral Expense fund

Updated 8/18/18

First off we want to thank everyone that donated to help pay our moms medical bills earlier in the year. We were able to pay off all her medical bills with your help. ( total raised includes the funds used to pay her medical bills)

Her condition rapidly deteriorated in the last couple of months and she was admitted to Nebraska Medicine on July 31st, 2018. Her heart continued to get weaker and drs decided we could no longer wait for a transplant and she would need an LVAD.
On Tuesday 8/14/18 she had surgery to place an LVAD ( a pump in to her left ventricle)to help her heart function until a heart was available for a transplant. After the LVAD did not improve her heart function it was decided a second surgery was needed on 8/16/18 to put in an RVAD as the right ventricle was not strong enough to get blood to the LVAD.

Unfortunately 8/17/18 @ 12:34pm our mother passed away from a massive stroke that lead to a bleed in the brain as well as clots due to a heparin allergy, this is a rare complication of the surgery . Our mom was expecting to come home 10 days after this procedure . Her passing was very unexpected which means we are scrambling to get a proper service planned .
We were totally unprepared to not only lose our mother but definitely unprepared to plan a funeral , in every aspect . We are asking for help to cover the final expenses ,we wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t absolutely necessary . We fully understand that not everyone is able to donate so we ask that you please share the link . Thank you all so much for the many calls and text , they all mean so much to us .

My siblings and I have spent days trying to tell our mothers story but struggled to find the words. After talking to our mother about setting up this go fund me for her which , let me tell ya .... she was not a fan of the idea at first ! We came to the conclusion that nobody can tell moms story better than Mom herself . So , ladies and gentlemen here is MaMaCiTa herself.

In this thing we call life, you have good times and you have bad times. The good times being I am 60 years young and I’ve had a rewarding career, have six amazing children and thirteen astonishing grandchildren, and I love life. The bad times being dealt cardiomyopathy 12 years ago. Cardiomyopathy is a heart disease that will eventually take my life unless I receive a heart transplant. I had to step down from my 25 year administrator position a year ago and that alone has broken my heart. Not only walking away from a career and people that I loved, I also lost any and all health benefits. I was praying that the transplant would take place while I still had insurance coverage but such was not the case. With time and prayer, I was able to get stronger and was removed from the list , however, that only lasted a short time. Since then , I have been in and out of the local hospitals with heart attacks and worsened heart failure several times and have racked up over $25,000 in unpaid medical bills. I won’t be able to get my heart transplant unless I can get health insurance. Obtaining insurance is a battle I cannot seem to conquer as of yet but I will continue fighting towards the cause ....my life.
My family approached me with the idea of a go fund me account. My first thought was absolutely not but after thinking it over, I decided I am a good person and I’m not too proud to ask and accept help. My time has come and my life depends on good will.
I have so much life to live , things to do , places to go and I can’t get there without your help.
God Bless us all.
