Medical Supplies Needed!

Expensive specialty bandages are not available in Rwanda and are purchased in the US then transported with volunteers. Specialty bandages help to reduce swelling and prevent complications. The cost of one leg kit is $75.00.

New patients with Podo (Elephantiasis) receive a kit that includes a personal basin, brushes, soap, a foot file, lotion, and antiseptics/creams that prevent bacterial and fungal infections. All patients receive a monthly supply of soap, lotion and antiseptics as needed. A personal kit costs $25.00.

Once bandaged, exercise continues the decongestion of the limb. Our Heart with Sole Sewing Center is a great place for patients to learn a skill and reduce their swelling!
