-He is blonde and beautiful!
-Bonnie got to hold him for about 15 seconds while they took a picture and then he was immediately taken to the NICU because he was having trouble breathing on his own.
-in the NICU he received antibiotics in case he had an infection and his 24 report said he did not but they are keeping him on antibiotics until 3 days of good report.
-Over the next 24 hours he got much worse.
-he had to be completely sedated and put on medicine to make him paralyzed so he would stay still
-the main problem right now is the capillaries in his lungs are stiff and need to relax
-at 5PM on 6/12/15 he was taken by life flight to OKC children's hospital
-on 6/13/15 Ollie went in for open heart surgery at OKC children's hospital
-Ollie is gaining strength everyday and continues to need our prayers during his recovery time
Oliver is the son of Jonathan and Bonnie Swindal (Whitaker). His short life was a blessing that connected people all around the world and brought much joy to his first-time parents!
His paternal grandparents are Dwane and Regina Swindal of Plant City, FL; and maternal grandparents are Les and Crystal Whitaker of Muskogee, OK and Cindy Wayman-Brooks of Muskogee, OK.
We are saddened by his departure from this world, but are confident that he is enjoying eternity with his Savior, Jesus.
To honor Baby Oliver, the family is requesting everyone to please dress in any shade of blue.
Funeral services for Oliver will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 6, 2015 at ORU Christ’s Chapel, 7777 S Lewis Ave, Tulsa, OK with Pastor Matt Nelson and Pastor Jayde Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee.
With full hearts, Bonnie and I will be celebrating Oliver's short and beautiful life this Monday at 2pm in Christ's Chapel. In his honor we would like attendees to wear shades of blue.
Ollie, you will always be our son and you brought us great joy. We love you forever. R.I.P. Ollie
July 1st update:
Oliver did not have fluids drained yesterday as we hoped. His total ml was in the positives instead of negatives. The Dr's have decided he must come off Ecmo regardless- today is day 14 and they have no records of success for babies staying on Ecmo longer than this and making it. Also, his liver is so bad he has to come off. His blood pressure is still too low!! This is a big concern. We need God to raise it! Every time they give him morphine for pain it lowers his blood pressure. And his heart needs to relax, but they don't have medicines for that. They plan to ween him off the Ecmo machine today but do not seem hopeful about his survival. The Dr said "they are not optimistic" and this is really "not good" they are out of ideas or fixes and have done all they can (for the 4th time!!!) God has to come through again!!! Today is the day for the supernatural once more! We are still believing our God can do anything and we have promises from God to stand on! Jonathan Swindal #pray4ollie
I have hesitated to share something I believe God spoke to me before Oliver was born and before we entered this whirlwind, but God has spoken to my heart many times through this process that He wants to amaze the Doctors and that His Word is higher than the Dr's reports. Here is part of what God spoke to me in my journal the day before Oliver was born. Please do not stop fighting with us and Oliver!!!!!!! GOD IS ABLE AND WE WILL NOT GIVE UP HOPE! We are standing on this!
I know we don't know each other, we were neighbors in the St. John NICU for a while as our son was born at 25 weeks on May 14th. I just wanted to tell you we are praying for you in this difficult time; for God's peace and comfort. We have 2 angels in heaven with your precious son, wrapped in the arms of our Lord Jesus. Stay strong, keep faith, and know that you are dearly loved by our creator and will one day be with Oliver again in heaven. Your faith is inspiring, and Oliver's story will not be forgotten! Thank you for sharing your story with the rest of us. The Lord is with you, He loves you, cares for you, and is grieving with you; may his supernatural peace surround you in this season. "When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled." John 11:33 "You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." Psalm 56:8 (NLT)
Prayers for your sweet child and the family.
Hebrews 10:23, more continued prayers!
My daughter, Taylor graduated from ORU in May....and she has been asking us to pray for your precious boy. We are praying faithfully and we stand with you, knowing that we serve a God of Impossibilities. We are praying here in NY.
Praying for this sweet baby boy and his family!
