Writers Award Trip

INSP Awards! Dear Friends, I have been nominated for an award for best contribution by a vendor for Street newspapers in 2018! I am a finalist and very excited to travel to Glasgow, Scotland to participate in the awards ceremony event and find out if I will be the winner if we can raise the funds. The competition is put on by the INSP, International Network of Street Papers. See the link below for the list of the finalists with the winner being revealed at the Global Street Paper Summit in Glasgow, Scotland. The event  is August 21 to 23, 2018. In order to travel to Glasgow, flight and hotel costs, I am asking for your generosity of a donation to make this exciting trip possible and bring the prize back to the DMV and Streetsense which has never had a winner. My article is one of a series that I have been writing: "Random Acts of Kindness" which chronicles the kind compassionate things we do for one another, sometimes even for perfect strangers. I hope to turn these stories into a book by late 2019. The nominated "Random Acts of Kindness : Reggae Style" was entered without my knowledge I may add by my editor. Street Sense said: "This essay and the accompanying photos were contributed by vendor Wendell Williams to recap a recent visit to Jamaica that some of his supporters helped him make. This was the fourth installment of the “Random Acts of Kindness” series he started writing, shortly after, during a vendor profile interview, he recalled the many random acts of kindness that helped him get to where he is today. This column has a couple signature acts of kindness, but it also touches on the history, culture and landscape of his destination. Several volunteers that regularly help around our office praised this article. One said it was the best piece he’d read in Street Sense all year." I am very appreciative all of your help.
