Writer to TWH Conference or Bust

Donation protected
Dear Reader,

How would you like to send a struggling author to a premier writers conference in NYC?  I've been accepted to The Writer's Hotel 2018 Conference, which takes place June 6-12. While it is an honor to be one of a chosen few selected to participate, it is not cheap (nor is staying in New York City for a week!)

This conference is special for me for a number of reasons. First, my unpublished manuscript will be reviewed by two TWH editors who will read the entire novel and provide detailed comments, from line-by-line edits to developmental critiques. Second, they will also offer me a follow-up phone call to directly address any questions I may have about their comments so I can bring a polished, ready-for-the-world manuscript to the conference and pitch my works to book agents. Third, I will also be taking part in a week-long series of intensive workshops, lectures and agent pitch sessions, as well as have a chance to read a page or two from my original works at a landmark NYC venues such as the KGB Bar, Bowery Poetry, or The Cornelia Street Café. I plan to present my manuscript for “Gates” -- a young woman investigates her father’s murder by emulating a childhood pulp hero, but digging into the man’s past for clues threatens to reveal a dark secret of her own - the ability to reshape living flesh with a touch.

While I should be able to cover most of the cost, I'd kind of like to have a place to sleep and eat during the week-long visit to New York City and not leave my family subsisting on dog food for the next two years.

This isn't like Kickstarter - any amount will help - but let me offer some enticements. If you donate at least $25, I gladly enroll you in the exclusive "Rauscher's Readers" beta-reading cabal for future works of fiction, and for at least $100 I will memorialize you as a fictional character in one of my novels or short stories.

Seriously.

The larger the donation, the larger the role.

I will even take suggestions on character traits that your namesake may possess (although I reserve the right to make your character more attractive or bad-assed if the story needs it.)

I've taken up enough of your time, so let me close by offering my thanks for listening. Should you like to learn more about this conference, please check it out at www.writershotel.com .

Sincerely,

Carl Rauscher
