Help! He is only 30 years old.

This happy cowboy (right) and his sweet boyfriend (left) received the worst news of their lives on Thursday 17-05-2018. Wouter has got cancer and the prognosis is not good, not good at all.

Unfortunately Wouter was not feeling well for the last few months. He was very tired, airless and coughing a lot. He went to the doctor many times during this period, but was not taken seriously.

Thursday 17-05-2018 was the day that someone did take him seriously and he was admitted to hospital directly. All kinds of medical exams were taken that day. And then: the horrible news. Cancer! Again, only now in lungs and liver. A terrible shock for Wouter and everybody who loves him.

Friday 18-05-2018 Wouter was transferred to Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital. He was treated there 3 years ago, so they knew him and his history. They wanted to start the treatment immediately. So they gave him chemo pills to take home and they made a scan of his head to see if the cancer spread out even more (you will read the outcome later).

It looks like the pills are doing what they’re supposed to do. Wouter is feeling more energetic and can start living a little. We immediately took advantage of this situation and went horseback riding in the forest. So now he can tick of the first item on his bucketlist. He was very happy and grateful for this day.

One (massive) problem with the chemo pills is that the cancercells will get resistant for them. Normally that proces will take up 6 to 12 months. Unfortunately Wouters cancer is very agressive so resistancy will act up sooner.

After resitancy he will try immunotherapy. The goal is not to get better, because we already know that is impossible. But it could give him a change to a better quality of life. Definitely worth trying.

Like I promised, I will give you the results of the scan. He had to wait a whole week to get the results and on Friday 25-05-2018 he got bad news. They found tumors in his head. Again a horrible shock to everyone. Also he can’t drive his car anymore, because of the chance of epilepsy. He was overwhelmed and very sad by this news.

Saturday 26-05-2018 we spoke to him again. “How are you feeling now?”, was the question. And mister positive was back. “Yes, I am doing okay. You know what, it’s just there. And fortunately these results won’t effect the treatment, chances of succes and life expectancy. It’s a bummer that I can’t drive my car anymore, but on the other hand I get the chance to be driven around by private chauffeurs, like a rich kid. I will just make the most of the time I have left and try to do the things I always wanted.

And then all of a sudden you have to think about the things you still want to do in life and find a way to make these last dreams come true. Unfair!! Normally a person will have 50 years left to fulfill the bucketlist. Wouter is in an extreme rush now.

So how awesome will it be if Wouter got the chance to fulfill his bucketlist. Horse riding was just one item, but ofcourse there are more things on his wishlist, like:

- Racing on the circuit (as a passenger)
- Going out to diner to the very luxuriois restaurant 'Encore by Simonis'
- A helicopter flight
- Going to an Il Divo concert
- A holiday with his best friends
- Not nice, but necessery: an adjustable box spring bed for the care he might
  need in the future.

To make this wishlist come true, we desperately need your help… Please make a donation and share this post.

Even though crowdfunding is absolutely not like Wouter, because asking for money is not something you do according to him… We know he will be thrilled to see his last wishes come true.

We thank you very much in advance!

Kind regards team Bucketlist.
