World Refugee Day 5K

$3,380 of $3,100 goal

Raised by 33 people in 5 months
This June, a team of staff and supporters of the American Refugee Committee will travel to the Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Uganda. On June 20th, the World Refugee Day 5K will bring together refugees, Olympians, ARC staff, supporters, and friends from all over the world. To further support the work of ARC in Nakivale, we are hosting a fundraising event.

When: Tuesday, May 29th, 6pm-9pm
Where: Bauhaus Brewery, Minneapolis

Cost: $10 cover includes your first beer; $20 party pack includes your first beer, trivia entry, and one treadmill boost. Pay cash/card at the door or prepay online.
Details: Join Ryan, Sarah, and Ryle in raising funds to support ARC. Activities include trivia, writing a note to a refugee, a 50/50 drawing, beer and food available for purchase, and a treadmill featuring endless running by those participating in the World Refugee Day 5K. It's going to be fun and probably very silly and regrettable.

If you can't make the event but would still like to help support ARC, please donate here. Funds donated will directly support the work of ARC in Nakivale.

Hey Friends!

Thanks again for your support. Here's a little recap for you.

"I am so thankful for you all who supported our additional fundraising efforts not only with donations but with words of affirmation and encouragement.

I am also grateful to the refugees in Nakivale for their constant displays of kindness and strength. Every day they work so hard to sustain life here. Going very far distances for water, for school and working the land for long hours to fill their bellies. Yet they remain joyful and kind a true testament to their character. The American Refugee Committee is doing amazing work here to sustain that!" - Sarah

"The trip to Uganda was an amazing and unique experience. It was a great chance to see the day to day field work of the ARC. Through their Changemakers 365 initiative, ARC seeks to make meaningful changes in the life of refugees everyday. One of the Changemakers 365 projects that I was able to participate in was planting mango trees at a mosque. Speaking with the Imam, he told us the trees would help the community by providing shade and relief from the sun to the worshipers at the mosque. Additionally, when the trees mature they will provide fruit to the community. Planting the trees was a great experience. The entire trip really did an awesome job of showing how much change the ARC is affecting around the world everyday." - Ryle

"Eh, it was fine." - Ryan
