Dean Heaps and Luke Pool from Preston Swimming Club are trying to raise some funds to go towards the cost of competing in the Masters World Swimming Championships 2019 to be held in South Korea in August!
This is a great opportunity for the pair to represent Preston Swimming Club at an international event. They intend to train hard and come home with medals, and there is also a possibility of a World Masters Record. They will be holding multiple fundraisers and setting some challenges along the way. Any support is greatly appreciated. The travel is looking to cost around £2,000 each.
Luke Pool started a Plumbing apprenticeship with Morecambe based Warren Contracting Services in 2017 working on new build homes in the North West. He is now a Level 2 Apprentice and works full time, whilst fitting in swimming training 4 evenings per week as well as gym and fitness training. Luke is the current British Masters Champion on the 50m and 100m Freestyle and holds the British Masters Record in the 50m Freestyle.
Dean Heaps is a Specialist Radiographer working for the NHS at Royal Preston Hospital. He is currently back at University (University of Salford) undertaking a Post Graduate Certificate in Musculoskeletal Radiographic Reporting, on top of working his full time hours at the hospital and fitting 4 swimming sessions in during the week. Dean is a previous British Masters Champion in the 200m Breaststroke, came 11th at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Budapest 2017 and was winner of the Senior Performance of the Year at the 2018 Preston Sports Awards.
Both Dean and Luke are part of British Masters Record breaking relay teams and have both swam together for 16 years.
Any monies raised above target will be donated to charities close to us, including Rosemere Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer's Society and Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
