World Challenge ~ Northern Tanzania

Donation protected
In the summer of 2019, myself and nine others from Plymouth College will be heading out on a World Challenge Expedition to Northern Tanzania.

What will happen on the trip?
We will leave between the 10th and 12th of July 2019 (When I've finished my A-levels) and return between the 26th and 28th of July.

- Acclimatisation Trek:

In this phase, we head off to the picturesque Southern Pares Mountains. There are a number of treks available for us to choose from, ranging from one-day trips via caves and lakes to a three-day ascent of Shengena Peak at 2462m.

- Project Phase:
The project phase gives us an opportunity to interact with a local community and see a side of Tanzania that few visitors have the chance to experience. There’s a wealth of tasks that we can take part in and activities may include creating vegetable gardens, repairing classrooms and developing playgrounds.  The time we spend on our project will have a lasting impact on the community so we will need to lead by example and show the value of a good, hard-working ethic.

- Rest and Relaxation Phase:
This phase gives us the chance to see East Africa's impressive wildlife and in the north, we will be going on a safari to the Ngorongoro Crater which contains stunning backdrops and close-encounters with some of nature’s finest creatures.
We will also head to the coast where there are a variety of options for us to visit. These include Zanzibar, Kipepeo and Bagamoyo which all boast white sandy beaches, a number of exciting activities and are excellent sources of East African history and culture.

Who are World Challenge and what do they do?
World Challenge builds the life skills young people need to live a life of courage, kindness and adventure. Today they are 30 years young, proudly travelling to over 40 destinations with over 8,000 students every year. They lead the way in safety, quality, ethical community engagement and learning outcomes.

What will happen with the money I raise?
Your kind donation will be used to help pay World Challenge, who set up the itinerary, flights, fitness testing, safety and the logistics of the trip. The funds go directly to the company, while any excesses over the goal will go towards kit and any other equipment or costs which are not included in the original cost set by World Challenge.

In addition to this donation page, we will as a group, be organising fundraising events at school.  Part of the learning experience is the process of finding ways to fund the trip. I am also planning to set up an Easy Fundraising page that collects free donations when you shop online without costing you anything extra. Part of my salary from my weekend job is also being put aside for this.

Thank you for your time,
Sam
