"Save the Himalayas from the Garbage Monster"

"Save the Himalayas from the Garbage Monster" Because you've experienced the wondrous splendor of the Himalayas or wish to experience it. And because of your love and respect for nature, I want to tell you of a growing crisis that is affecting the health, hygiene, ecology and beauty of our region. We call it "The Garbage Monster"—mounting tons of garbage caused by the trekking business. You see, unlike in developed countries, Nepal has no infrastructure for removing this garbage. So after trekking season ends, dangerous trekking garbage remains in Himalayan villages and camps forever. But you can help do something about this. Those of you who know me, know I am a child of the Himalayas, where I have been guiding people from around the world for almost a decade. You may have also seen me picking up used oxygen cylinders, protein bar wrappers, cans, PET bottles, and other refuse—this helps along the trail. But it does nothing to handle the growing mountains of guesthouse and trekking/climbing facility garbage that continuously grows, contaminating beauty, water supplies, and so much more. That's why I have begun a project to create a management system for removing and recycling trekking garbage. I've already received a letter from the Nepalese government to acknowledge my plan to raise money. And as a nature lover, your timely donation can help make our garbage management system a reality. Your donations will go toward direct funding for this project—buying pack mules, hiring local villagers, and system maintenance. And a small portion will help me and a fellow guide travel to more than 25 countries to raise money and awareness through presentations to universities, environmental groups, and hiking, nature and travel clubs. Our travel costs will be low since after airfare, we'll hitchhike, bike, camp, backpack and walk. Meaning most everything raised will go toward building our much-needed garbage management system. And I'll keep you updated on this project through social media as it goes along. But my efforts alone can't make it happen. So what do you say? Can you help a lot? Can you help a little? Working together, we can rid the Himalayas from trekking garbage—protecting the health of its people and wildlife, and ensuring it remains beautiful for my people as well as for you and for yours. Please help us with your donation.
