Woolston Big Hair Chop

Seventeen Woolston children, plus a couple of their Mummies, big sisters and friends are lopping their locks off to support The Little Princess Trust . A charity which creates real hair wigs for children who have lost theirs due to cancer treatment.

The children have stepped forward from Woolston Community Primary School to show support and raise awareness following a difficult 12 months amongst families being directly effected by cancer within the school.
George, little brother of Oliver and Harriet in the school, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in January 2016 and many of the families have seen first hand how his treatment has effected him and his family. You can follow George's journey via Facebook here .
Tragically, in February 2016 there was the loss of a much loved parent, Sue Kendall, leaving behind her husband, young family including Jack who attends Woolston Community Primary and many close friends from the area.
We hope you are as proud of the children as we are for undertaking such a selfless act. The photo below is of a young lady called Erin that little George has met at Alder Hey - Erin lost her own waist length hair within weeks of her diagnosis of leukaemia but thanks to people donating to The Little Princess Trust, is enjoying her new lovely blonde hair. The diagnosis of cancer and aggressive treatment is hard enough for anyone to have to deal without the hair loss too.
Our girls will be having their ponytails chopped off over the next couple of weeks and will be coming together on Thursday 21st July for a group photo which we will post on here.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our fundraising page, the funds raised will go to The Little Princess Trust to enable them to process all the hair donated and create beautiful wigs like the one Erin is wearing.
