The Wong Family is raising money because they lost their home in the Camp Fire in Paradise Ca.
In the morning on Thursday November 8th, the family got the call that they needed to evacuate. Maxine had just picked up her 9 year old son Wyatt from school due to the warning. Upon arriving home, the family began to pack when suddenly the power went out. When Maxine looked out the window she saw fire in her back yard and knew she had to leave. She had time to pack up the 4 family cats and two suitcases but when she and two of her 3 sons got outside, they could not find the car keys.
The fire was quickly approaching so Maxine and her two sons had to grab the cat kennels and jump in the back of a neighbors truck, as the fire was beginning to burn around them and they hadn’t found the keys to the car. They did not even have the time to grab the two suitcases they had packed with their clothes. The truck they were in was stuck for the next five hours in traffic that was not moving, They only made it to the end of their road before they realized they could no longer wait for traffic to move. The family was forced to leave the truck they were in and flee through the fire on foot. The experience was traumatizing as they ran through flames , putting out burning ashes on their clothes and hair. They took shelter in a parking lot until a fire truck came to escort them and others they were with to safety. We are thankful for the hard working fire department in this area without whom there would have been no escaping for any of the residents trapped in the parking lot with maxine and her children.
Thankfully all 5 of the Wong family and their family pets made it out, however, they were unable to save any of their belongings from their home other than the clothes on their backs.
This fundraiser is for them to be able to provide what they need to start over. They will need clothing, food, housing, and all basic essentials as their home is lost as well as one of their vehicles.
We appreciate any support you can give. We are thankful for the miracle that the whole family made it out safe.
