Thank you to all who have sweetened us with love and support!

Hello there!!!

We're Jackie and Rem Morin, the owners of Wonderpuff, an all organic artisanal cotton candy company located in the Triangle of North Carolina!
If you live in the Triangle and love sugar then you most likely tried our amazing cotton candy!
WHOOT WHOOT!
We super duper love sugar!
If Jackie could have sugar for breakfast, lunch and dinner, she would!
Hey now, this is a safe space, don't be afraid to admit you love sugar too!
And we're so happy you're here!
That means you support small local businesses and for that, you are stupendous!

From the beginning:
The first time I spun cotton candy was in 2012 in South Florida. I was a volunteer at a non-profit organization, Deliver The Dream (thanks Jasmine!) that created retreats for families living with a medical crisis, every month was dedicated to a different cause. We all met on Fridays and we would utilize our time for healing activities for the families. After lunch we had what was called, "Outdoor Extravaganza", where the families can connect and just have fun all afternoon before dinner and a movie night for the teens. There were bounce houses, kayaking, face painting, jewelry making, rock climbing, tie dying, music, therapy dogs, snow cones...and cotton candy! I would never forget when I first spotted a cotton candy machine, it was huge! All the kids kept messing with it, dropping the cones on the grass, spilling sugar everywhere! Some adults didn't know how to use the machine, but it was their weekend to feel special and let go of whatever hardships they were living with at the time. The cotton candy machine was to be spun by someone that can handle all that Wonderpuff! After some assistance, there I was spinning for everyone! I just kept spinning cotton candy, giving it to every little person and parent that was around me. OMG! I think I had about a dozen that day too, I felt so dizzy, but I couldn't stop spinning! The smell of the flavored sugar in the hot Florida heat was so pretty and the way the sugar spun and caught on the cone was oh so magical! There was  sugar flying everywhere, and every month when my sister and I volunteered, I would hope that machine was outside on the patio deck waiting for me spin for our families!

Our first machine was $300 and was bought from the money we received on our wedding day. We got dressed up in our best Islamic attire and after the first Friday (Islamic holy day) service of the year, we wed that day, January 1, 2016. After our marriage ceremony at our mosque, we drove to grandma's house for cake and chicken curry. Rem suggested it would be a great time to start investing in our cotton candy business. Though I was nervous, that same week we purchased our first cotton candy machine!

Let's Spin Sugar in the Triangle!
After moving to Raleigh from Miami, we (Rem is the true MVP) spent months studying wood and learning how to build a cart. It took Rem a month to build our cart. He installed a disco light and put speakers in the Wonderpuff cart so we'd always bring the party! Earth, Wind & Fire is appropriate for every occasion by the way!

July 8th, 2017, was our soft opening! We didn't have much and our cart was simple but I didn't care.I had passion fruit cotton candy and I wanted to share it with everyone! I took our Wonderpuff cart to The Farmery, an incredible food truck located in Durham, NC where my sister was working at the time. Her co-workers were rooting for me and that kind of support was inspiring to witness. It rained that afternoon. Hard. The only cotton candy I made was for me, my sister and her three co-workers that day. It didn't matter though, I was just happy that I was finally spinning sugar!

There's something extremely unique about the Triangle in North Carolina. Many people are invested in supporting locals! People are eager to support a product that is made locally. There are so many opportunities and communities teaming up to help uplift small businesses. I strongly believe Wonderpuff would not be as successful, if it wasn't for the strong support from the people of North Carolina.

Do You Have Curry Flavored Sugar?!
No! But we have a orange-cardamom cotton candy that's outta this world! The cotton candy world is growing fast yet we are the first black-Muslim ma and pa to spin in the east coast and we are so happy to be inclusive! Being Guyanese-Haitian and Muslim American, we want people to know that we're proud of our existence and we support all people from all walks of life. We pride ourselves on being minority owned and we want others to be eager to support people of color in small businesses as well. Our economy thrives off of local  businesses, and black women owned businesses have grown greatly as of late. The world is finally realizing women of color can make a huge positive impact in our community and we are so honored to be working together in this inclusive economy!

Our sugar is lit!
When we first started spinning, we had outsourced from a pretty cool company that cost a pretty penny! So after months of studying sugar, we decided to handcraft our flavors, testing extracts, making them vegan and artificial free. The world is moving fast and many people have different dietary needs; we want our sugar to be a product that no one had to second guess what's in it! We want to accommodate everyone, especially those who had very high food allergies. Everyone deserves a little sugar in their lives!

Keep it up baby girl, you got this!
When we first started making our own sugar, it was during our first wedding event. We were beyond excited. After spinning for a few guests, we noticed that our machine wasn't spinning as fast as it should be. When we turned it off, we'd seen our sugar was boiling! The flavor we handmade contained an ingredient that cooked inside our machine rather than spun! Our first private event and our precious machine broke! We were devastated. Instead of wanting to quit, we dismantled our machine and repaired it from top to bottom. We went back to the drawing board and studied every ingredient to make the perfect cotton candy. If anything, our failures is what helps bring us to a sweeter success and we knew that this was a lesson that we can utilize as a blessing.

Our machine broke again during our biggest event yet, Afropunk Atlanta of last year. We had served hundreds of amazing festival goers and after a few hours of heavy spinning , SNAP! Our machine broke! Horrified and overwhelmed with a line outside the exit door, the amazing Rem ran all over Atlanta looking for the piece that had broke. One hour turned into two and so forth. Everyone wanted to know why we stopped spinning. Rem was still running around Atlanta, that man is too cool for school! I could have either cried at this amazing festival or gone outside and watched Solange hypnotized us all. Day one was over and we still had a broken machine. We spent all night at our airbnb figuring out how we were going to make it the next day. Rem woke up at 4am and drove two hours away to purchase a used machine. It was time to spin again and though this machine was slow (and I mean slow) we put in work that last day of Afropunk. We were able to make connections and many smiles on everyone's faces.  WE MADE IT.

No one tells you how hard it is to start something. I had to be kind to our process, to remind myself on being patient, and that our life is different than the ones we see on social platforms, like Instagram. I keep reminding myself that our dreams carry value and our ideas can serve a purpose to a world that may sometimes seem bleak.

Life wouldn't be life without a few bumps and bruises, but appreciating our battle scars, and loving ourselves in the process makes it worth it.

GO GREEN.
Everything we do at Wonderpuff is eco-friendly. Not only are our flavors artificial free, we also do our best to implement that mindset with our packages and cones. All of our packages are recycle-friendly and biodegradable. We want to produce a product that does less harm for the environment. This planet needs us to be conscious of what we put back into it. This is the only planet we have, it deserves to be loved and taken care of.

Let's talk business, finally!
Did I tell you how happy I am you're here?! I'm elated! Ecstatic! Hopeful! Out of this world thrilled!
With your infinite kindness and help, your donation will go 1000% into building Wonderpuff.
Here are the things that your donation will go to specifically:

1) A LOGO!
We've been in search of the best graphic designer since we started Wonderpuff! Our new Wonderpuff logo will be printed onto everything! From our website to our eco-friendly packages!

2) PACKAGES!
We want to continue investing in packages that are Earth friendly and that will not end up destroying our fellow creatures on this planet.
We value the world we live in and we want to inspire our consumers to do the same.

3) A WEBSITE!
I know, I know! You're wondering, "How in the heck do they not have a website for their business?!"
I guess after Myspace I got scared of coding in 2018.
Your donation will help fund our page!

4) A NEW MACHINE!
Finally with your help, we would be able to get a brand new machine that can help produce the softest, fluffiest cotton candy in the Triangle and that won't break down during an event!

5) SUGAR!
We can finally expand in our flavors!
We want to work on a sugar-free organic cotton candy made with real fruits!
We would be able to hire someone who can help us with creating all natural colors for our cotton candy.
A lot of food colorings say they're vegan BUT they're not organic!
Their sugar carry artificial ingredients, and we really want our product to be earthy for our consumers.

6) A NEW CART!
Our Wonderpuff cart is amazing however it's too big!
With your donation we can build a stronger, smaller cart that is easy to travel with and won't crush Rem!

7) VENDOR'S FEE!
Though our goal is to spin for private events, it can take a long time for someone to hire us.
Our best way to network and meet potential clients is spinning at public events but oh boy it's expensive.
The biggest downside of having a small business is that everyone has one and because we're all on our grind, manifesting the same goals, many organizations want to profit off that.
We have paid a lot of money for the many public events we have done since we've started. From $200-$1000, and yes because sugar is inexpensive it is often that we don't break even or make a profit that day.

8) A 10x10 TENT!
A strong, sturdy tent is costly and with your donations we will be able to invest in a tent that's also easy to travel with and that won't blow away! We don't have a tent so we let our sugar cart out in the sun for the world, however the heat can beat us down.

9) ADVERTISEMENTS!
With your donation, you can help us finally advertise in our local newspaper! Wonderpuff thrives off of word of mouth, however with proper advertisement we can branch ourselves outside of our city and connect with other growing cities around us! We always wanted an ad on INDY!

OMG!

10) MERCH!
We've always wanted to have Wonderpuff shirts! And stickers! And goodies galore! With your donation, we can team up with local designers and branding companies that can help create our sugary vision!

11) POWER!
We wanna go mobile! Power is super expensive when doing public events, organizers can charge up to $200 just to use an outlet.
With your donation we can finally invest in a deep cycle battery and power inverter, this will help power our machine with no outlet.
We can even spin on a freeway, giving sugar highs during traffic jam!

Our best to you!
All donations will be met with immense, unyielding gratitude, and Wonderpuff gifts via mail delivery.

OUR BIG DONORS WITH DONATIONS $500+ WILL GET A VOUCHER FOR A FREE CART SERVICE!

YAS HONEY, WE WANNA THROW YOU A PARTY FOR HELPING US KEEP OUR SUGAR DREAMS ALIVE!

*Out of state donors will be gifted with package of equal value!

Thank you infinitely and beyond for taking the time to read our pitch and for being a Wonderpuff donor, especially for supporting black owned businesses in our communities.
This world is better when we root for each other, thank you for rooting for us!
Thank you for believing in us and our vision, we cannot thank you enough for donating to our dreams of being a positive light in our community.
We want to be on the right side of history, uplifting each other is a perfect way of doing that. So again thank you.
May you always manifest with love and abundance!
