Women Led Cities Study Tour
Hi everyone!
Last year I had an idea: to start a project around the promotion and collaboration of women working to make cities better for everyone. I am proud to say this once "crazy thought" is now becoming a reality thanks to the support of The Knight Foundation and local organizations here in Philadelphia.
I'm calling it The Women Led Cities Initiative, but I still need your help to make this project a success.
Before we launch the project this Fall, before the pilot conference event, and before the full year of programming we have planned for 2018, I'm heading to Stockholm and Amsterdam in October for two very important reasons:
1. To investigate one of the best existing examples of women-led urban planning in Stockholm, Sweden.
2. To host a Women Led Cities meet-up and kick-off at the Placemaking Week conference in Amsterdam.
I am so excited about the support I've gained so far and the opportunity to really make a difference in the way we design and shape our urban habitat. I know I can't do this alone and if it wasn't for the support of friends, family, and women in urbanism all over the world I wouldn't have gotten this far. But as a new consultant, getting off the ground is challenging, and as I move into spending more of my unpaid time on The Women Led Cities Initiative - a project I truly believe in - I'll need all the help I can get.
With your support I will be able to pay for conference fees, hotel accomodations, and travel so that I can start the research process, learn from fellow urbanists at a world-renowned conference, and kickoff this thing with gusto.
Thank you so much for anything you can give! And thank you for your support as I embark on this now not-so-crazy journey.
XOXO
