Women Arise

Donation protected
Clementine is truly an inspiration to me.  She is a Tanzanian woman who wants to support women in her local area, in particular single mothers who often struggle to support their families.  Girls who fall pregnant are not allowed to return to school, so they frequently find themselves without an education, struggling to make ends meet.  Clementine has seen this need and wants to do something about it, so she created Women Arise.

Clementine's plan is to get local women to share their skills with these women, and she is working on developing a framework to do this through.  She has been saving personally, which is a slow process, so I am contributing by putting this together to help support a rather remarkable woman and her dream to help her people.

Her first plan is to host a small get-together on International Women's Day next month, where she's inviting some local women to present about their small businesses and explain how they got started.

This go-fund-me is so that she can raise the money to promote and run this event.  As she wants to attract some of the poorest and most vulnerable women in her area, she needs there to be no expense to them.

Her budgeted costs involve:
hiring of plastic seats and tables $40
hiring of a PA system and paying some local musicians $30
buying some food and drink for attendees $50
printing up some photos of the local women's work $20
creating a banner, plus some posters and flyers $60
buying of sample products for people to test/make $50
transport of people and equipment $30
emergency money $20

I am hoping we can raise this before the end of February so that she can promote this day as enthusiastically as she wants to.  I would love to see Clem's dream come true and will be forever indebted to anyone who can help too!

Any additional funds raised will go towards paying the school fees of the youngest child of one of the local mums, Veronica, who is working her hardest, but so far can only afford to send her two oldest to school.
Semester 1 fees (including application fee, admission fee, exam fee, uniforms and lunches) is $280
Semester 2 fees (just the fees and lunches) is $180

First day of school!  Mama Veronica assures me that he was very excited, even if he doesn't look it in the photo.
I, personally, couldn't be happier!
