The wombats of Tamania are in trouble. Sarcoptic mange is decimating populations in the West Tamar Region and is spreading statewide.  Wombat numbers in Narawntapu National Park have dropped to critical endangered levels.

There is a dedicated group of community members in Kelso Tasmania who are not ignoring the problem.  We want to rescue Tasmania's wombats.  We are establishing a sanctuary in the heart of wombat habitat on the banks of the Tamar River.

We need your help to fund our efforts.  Our goal is to reach $500,000 in 2017 to fund:

Our dream is to buy 60 acres of land that has recently come up for sale in a naturally occurring wombat dense corner of the North East Coast of Tassie.  We are aiming very high but believe we have to, in order to protect this wonderful iconic animal! Our dream is to have a little corner of Tassie that is safe for the conservation of wombats, where they are free from cull permits, roads & highways & where they can be successfully treated & rehabilitated after suffering the Sarcoptic Mange infection!

Wombat Rescue Tasmania also invests in prevention and treatment in the field by installing and maintaining hundreds of burrow flaps to keep wild wombats healthy.

Hi friends, as you know we are working tirelessly to save the large number of wombats suffering mange all over Tassie. From the many hundreds of phone calls, FB & SMS messages reporting sightings of unwell mangy wombats, the enormity of the problem has been brought to our attention & we are very worried for our precious Bare Nosed Wombats! Have a listen to the Hon Kerry Finch as he addresses parliament on the very concerning issue of Sarcoptic Manage epidemic affecting Tasmania's wombats!
Wombat mange is a very serious problem!
With treatment, things got better!

Great news!! Due to some donations of materials from TWO Tasmanian businesses, we don't have to raise as much $$ as first anticipated. We have reduced our goal and are working hard to secure more donations to reduce it even further. Thank you for your donations to date.
